Trouble with researcher acheivements?

I filled the qualification for the acheivement, but didn't get it. I only researched the civilian tech tree and the fleet sizes. Can someone help me see what went wrong?

A. I think you need to avoid techs in the diplomacy tree too. B. Did you win the game you did this in. Some achievements won't be unlocked unless you win the game after doing the criteria.

If that doesn't work, I'm not sure, something seems a bit screwy about some of the research achievements yet it appears it is possible to get them somehow.

Yes, i completely ignored the diplomacy as well. The only research I did was in Civilian and fleet logistics.
I did win the game, but I was also going for other achevements, so I had 400+ light cruisers, and waited for a cultural takover.
Could having chose a random random faction affect it?

No idea, but next time you try for it, try picking a specific faction, and try playing with research victory on and then win by research victory. IIRC its also in the civic tree, and maybe Rebellion requires it to get that achievement now as well (probably an unintentional side effect of that victory mode).

Thanks for the help. I'll try the military end of the research acheivements, to see if I need to win the round. As for the research victory, I never would have thought anout that. Thanks again.

So I manage to unlock the military achievement, but even with the research victory, the achievement eludes me. =\

I tried this one:
TEC Civilian Researcher
Research every subject in the Civilian Tree while researching no subjects in the Military, Defense or Diplomacy trees.

I just researched civilian tree, no military,def or diplomacy, I won the game and no achievement. Im afraid its broken.

That's weird, me and my two friends were all able to get these achievements without any issues, and that was only two or three weeks ago

Did you upgrade fleet logistics at all? I wonder if that may interfere.

I researched fleet logistics and also that other thing to get capital ships. But there is wrote no subject in the military, defense and diplomacy... no words about logistic and that other research. It's weird.

That has no effect on the achievement. At least it didn't for me.

Just did it with Advent

I failed all the time with every map settings, then I did purchase the DLC forbidden worlds

I just had the achievement the 1rst time I tried like this :
- only harmony research (and no other branch, not even fleet or capital)
- normal speed for everything, pirate active
- research victory, but I didn't have to activate the winning research (obviously, since I didn't research anything else, and more research should have been done otherwise)

The DLC brings a few new researches, some of them in harmony (like, colonize oceanic for instance)

Oh yeah, I forgot to ask about the DLC for some reason. It could definitely be the game is requiring those techs, which would be why people without the DLC could get it before the DLC was released and people with the DLC can still get it.

I think that the DLC is required. It just makes too much sense as a reason to ignore.
