Single Player Speed Problem
A few days ago Sins started moving really, really fast. To the point where I have been unable to enjoyably play the game.
I have reinstalled and uninstalled Sins several time as well as validating files and the problem persists.
It seems that whenever I validate the game catch, there is one file that is missing and must be reacquired, but it never seems to get reacquired.
I've heard of things like this happening in multi-player but not in single player, does anyone know what this is, and if you do is there a way to fix it?

Are you sure you didn't accidentally increase the game speed? There's hot keys and those two plus or minus buttons over the main HUD. Try hitting the minus button, and if it says something like "Game Speed Reduced to 1x Speed" or something that means it was set higher.

I have tried moving the game speed up and down to see if the will fix the problem. I have taken it all the way up to 10x and then back down to 1x and nothing changes.

Use the "-" "=" keys on your keyboard to the left of the backspace key. It may work??

Tried that, the speed changes but the base speed is already much higher then it should be at 2x speed the the ships move far to fast for me to effectively select them.
I feel that it is an issue with that missing file, but I don;t know what file it is, why it is not being reacquired or how to reacquire it.

Sometimes(quite often), I have it that my ships move very fast for the first few minutes of the game. After that, it slows down to my selected speed. It is actually pretty nice, since it means that my initial research, fleet and structure building, and even the first few battles are done within a few minutes.
It makes the start up less tedious.

Regrettably this happened in the middle of a game and it carries over to all games.

Whenever verifing any game there is always 1 file missing, I read it is something to do with the Steam files but anyway it doesn't affect games in any way.

Edit, just googled it, the missing file is to do with DRM which will be different on everybodies computer so it can't be verified. As I said though, it doesn't affect your games.

Thanks for the information. I'm still not sure quite how to fix the problem though.

Do you happen to be overclocking any of your hardware? Kinda an old and rare problem, but games may unintentionally speed up with higher than normal clock speed.

Not as far as I can tell my computer is only one year old and had good graphics when I got it and I am not running the settings very high on Sins.
