Oh ♥♥♥♥, you might want to check your requirements, or maybe during the download somehow the files didn't download properly. There could be a number of reasons why this could be happening like sometimes some graphics cards are too new to run it or too old to run it. I would first try to see if it is a file based issues, try redownloading it.

Depending on your OS (operating system) I seen a minidump on a totally different game, and never was able to get it running. Some platforms are noctorious for not being compatable with certain games.

for what ever reason if i go to Steam/SteamApps/Common/Sinsofsolarempire/ and then right click "Sins of a solar empire rebellion dev then click "run with graphics processor" then click "Integrated graphics (default)" it works and im able to play it.

Start Steam with "Run as Administrator" fixed my minidump error. BTW I use win 8.1

You may want to try running the normal .exe to see if it will work now. I think some of the crash on first start up issue is caused by the game's default settings not being set correctly. Running the dev.exe forces a reset of all settings so that tends to fix it.

Minidumps have been around since 2008. There is no fix, as the devs said its not worth the effort to fix them.

Minidump just means something went wrong. There is no one cause of them. There's not a game out there that won't ever crash, Sins just produces minidumps when it does to help the devs track down errors. Assuming you send them in of course.

What is the point of sending them in if the devs said they won't fix them?

Where did they say that? Look at the patch logs, they fix a few every time.

Is that why 1 in 7 of all MP games end in a minidump/runtime error? Not to mention it seems to get WORSE with each patch...

Well, the definition of a minidump is when the game takes a small crap, and shuts you out of your game for its own privacy.
