I love Ironclad/Stardock/SoaSE 2, I just don't love Epic Games.
Not meant to be a hate post against Epic Games or anything (though I do greatly dislike them), but I will be buying the full game when its finally available on Steam or directly from Ironclad/Stardock.

So I guess what I am saying (to the DEVs) is, please don't think I (or some of us) don't love Sins anymore if sales on Epic Games is not as high as you guys had hoped. It's not you, it's them.

What a dissappointment guys, as if fans here with sequel related topic going on for years wouldn't make it worthwhile. The teaser was the first one in years that made me feel excited towards any announced game, even HW3 look kinda meh now.
And then i found out about EGS. "What a great time, finally the sequel is here. Stardock are amazing, they cant possibly ♥♥♥♥ this up".
Well damn.

Yeah, they should use the Epic games forum to market the game.
Its dirty to use one platform disscusion forums while selling the exclusivity to another.

I agree with Stabilo ᐰ, Dissappointment is the right word.

One question, honest one, why you guys abuse this platform for promoting game on different launcher? I know Epic Games has no forum and their outreach is very limited, but this only angers people and makes controversy just like with Chivalry 2, they did same as well and they still didnt recovered from it.

Be exclusive, i am fine with it, even do damage controll, but dont promote your game on different platfom. It sounds extremely rude towards loyal fanbase.

Yeah, I'm pretty disappointed it's going to Epic.

I mean, a lot of why the game has even remained as relevant as it has is because of Steam. Like, You guys even still host Sin1 events/tournaments all using Steam as a platform.

There is even one of the largest threads I've literally ever seen on here with 2000 posts discussing the desire for a sequel that's been going since 2017.

I donno, I think if guys did had done a KickStarter or something, it would've been way more successful at bolstering the games development funds than launching it exclusively on Epic.

Good vibes to you.

For me, as a backer of the first game, I will back this as well, regardless of where you release it. I dont like Epic, but I will make an exception for you guys.

I love what I am seeing and hearing. Cant wait to get my hands on this one!

I played the original I don't how long but it was before it came to Steam and when it did, I loved the expansions as well. Unfortunately EGS just killed all my excitement for this. I would pre-purchase today if it was on Steam but it isn't and I refuse to spend a dime at that store cause almost none of the promises have come to fruition. Honestly had a high from this and even greater low for this realization. It obviously took a VERY long time to get a sequel but I hope it doesn't take as long with bringing it to Steam. Still pissed about this.

Epic Exclusive = No Buy

Maybe after SoaSE 2 flops, it will make its way into a bundle and I'll get it cheap then. But there's no way I'm going out of my way to buy a Stardock game ever again thanks to them taking this EGS bribe.

In the meantime, I'll just keep playing Endless Space 2.

You're kidding, right? What a tone-deaf reply.

At the end of the day it comes down to money. They wanted guaranteed money up front rather than believing enough people would buy the game. The demand for a sequel has existed for years and this is a pretty strong slap in the face of consumers who have supported the first game throughout its life that want a choice of where to purchase the game from.

Plenty of other games to play. I don't know if I'd even get it if it comes to Steam eventually because I am done supporting the kind of behavior that greedy publishers/developers keep going towards.

While what you said is true, it's actually even worse than that. When a dev takes an EGS bribe, their only obligation is to release a minimalist application that vaguely resembles a game in order to collect their paycheck. Because of this, many sequels released as EGS exclusives have been garbage. Unfortunately, I really don't expect Sins 2 to break that trend because Stardock has practically been paid already and isn't required to care about the state of the final product.

It was the fans that brought it here and asked these questions :P the devs are merely answering them.

However, I too am waiting for full release. Though I'd prolly still feel that way without epic games too. I want the full experience, minus the bugs and alpha stage chunks that are often missing in such games. Just because that is what I've come to expect from Sins.

Sadly since it's epic exclusive it'll for sure use Epic Online Services, which as of late has become a LOT more malware-like (it forces itself to install system wide and won't accept an answer of no, with the X button in the corner doing nothing and alt tabbing being disabled).

So yeah, sticking with Sins 1. And if you put EOS into Sins 1 as well, I'll likely never buy another Stardock title again.

Presumably, it will come to Steam eventually. Think of this forum as helping drum up support for future Steam sales once the play testing is done and the bugs are all worked out.

Assuming that such a trend exists, I would expect Ironclad / Stardock to break the trend and go all out to produce a first rate product because that's just who they are. The Devs for this game have put effort into maintaining it and patching it long after its release and never failed to maintain the online multiplayer server for the game.
