Are there any good mods?

I'm looking for mods that upgrade the base game, like the UI features or AI. Total conversion mods are an option to me, but it wouldn't to hear some suggestions. Thanks!!!

You should try Star trek Armada 3. Its the first one I recommend. It really changes up the gameplay. Its my top favorite. http://www.moddb.com/mods/star-trek-armada-3
There are some star wars mods out there. So far Sins of a Galactic Empire is the most complete. I have tryed the other mods though. Mainly because STA3 keeps me happy.

The main mod packages that improve the base game (in all aspects) without adding new factions are Enhanced 4X (E4X) and Distant Stars. You might want to start with them and then branch to the total conversions. E4X also has a Star Wars addon, Star Wars: Interregnum, you can branch to if you like it.

I think SOASE is one of the best games for total conversions, definitely the best space strategy game. There's Star Trek, Star Wars, Battlestar Galactica, Halo... Pretty much most things you can think of. I'd especially reccomend Star Wars: Interregnum (which GoaFan77 humbly declined to mention is his own mod), it was just updated and it's very well done.

Yea I have been eyeing that mod, but just started playing Sins so am waiting a while till I get bored of Vanilla :).

Well keep in mind that all the regular Sins races are in Interregnum, plus the Empire, Rebels and Imperial Warlord factions. It also benifits from the E4X mod, which enhances the base game in many different ways.

There are a LOAD of mod's out there, i get all mine from moddb.com, my favorite mod that alters a few things is a mod called crazy mod, only 1 down fall with this mod you can not it is a good mod, there is a mod i like also called the fall of kobal. but my favorite mod and little downside if you have the large aware thing, is got to be the star trek mod, its complete, its just pure gold and i have noticed a lot of players play this online :-)

I also recommed Seva's Font Mod, it's simple but greatly improves the font so it's more readable(first thing on noticed in 1080p was how hard the font was to read once I started playing).
