Sins on Mac, Crossover question
Hey all,
I've been looking at getting into Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion but the problem is... I made the transition to a Mac some time ago, as of right now theres no Mac version of the game. I play on Steam and have been playing other games through Steam on my Mac (mostly the Total War series).
What I'm trying to understand before I commit to this is: 1. Whether or not my Steam account/software will be effected if I have Steam software for both Mac and Windows on my desktop. Will I have to bounce between both versions of Steam in order to play Rome 2 (which I have the mac version of) and play SoSE on Steam through the Crossover software? 2. Will mods and multiplayer work correctly? 3. I suppose that since I'll be purchasing the game through Steam, it'll still be saved in my library forever in case I acquire Windows OS in the future.
From the research I've done, it seems like the answer to all of my questions is yes, but I'd like a second opinion from someone who is more programming savvy than I am. I'm leaning toward the crossover route because I'm not comfortable partitioning my desktop with Bootcamp and even so I feel like I'd be in relatively the same boat with the same questions except replacing Crossover with Bootcamp.
Thanks in advance for the help and for bearing with my lack of programming knowledge.

This is the exact reason why I want nothing to do with Macs. As for your questions, I wouldn't have a clue, sorry...

As a programmer and modder for this game, I'm afraid I still can't answer your questions. :p The fact is most programmers in the game industry are already going to be using Windows whether they like it or not (or at least have it as a dual boot), so its not really something that comes up.

Assuming Crossover is something like Wine for Linux, in theory it should work. There have been proven cases of people running the game on Linux, though that was before Rebellion and thus steam.

You'd be better off asking on Mac gaming forums or something, because virtually all these questions are releavant to any game for Windows on Steam that you want to try and play on a Mac. Which is a lot of them I imagine. :p

Best of luck!
