Basically, expand and keep building. SotP is now significantly more focused on ship building, not ship maintaining. If you manage to keep a cap ship to level 6+ great! But don't expect to. It's about expanding enough to have an economy powerful enough to keep pumping out ships to outmatch your enemy. Fail early on? you're doomed. Fail to keep building later because you've become complacent? doomed. I've learned this the hard way which is why I prefer to play against others or with others against AI since it's very difficult to do alone.

The ai are very hard to fight alone, sucks that no one plays it anymore, would love to have 4 or 5 people vs ai

This is exactly what you must do. You must expand as fast as possible to have an economy capable of giving you the resources to produce units to fight the AI. What you should try to do as the UNSC is create 2 well-defended choke points for the enemy to attack. As the covenant, one must keep building ships and learn how to use capital ships as defensive units until you can create a force for a counter attack. If you are not doing this already, try expanding in two directions early game to give you as much territory as possible.

I understand your tips, but sometimes expanding is either not possible, due to flood/forerunner worlds, or they have already been settled, and usually well defended too.

Usually I end up with 5-7 worlds in my control, this goes down as titans get launched, which for some reason happens quickly, whats the best way to improve my economy? which are the best upgrades to get?

its literally impossible, no matter how fast you go or how many more planets you own than the ai he will always be able to outproduce you no matter what, ive literally been trying for 8 hours on easy difficulty, in each case i have 9 planets and he has 3, and no matter what i do, no matter what i research, he can make a fleet bigger than mine faster, the ai always seems to be able to pull a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ unsc infinity and 50 billion ships outta their ass from no where, and they just wipe whatever fleet you have no matter the size and then take all your planets, and its impossible to recover from that point. so there really is no way cause the ai cheats like crazy

And what makes matters even worse is that, if you lose too many military research labs, you are unable to continue building your super heavy caps. I wonder, if you also lose some of the other research benefits? Eventually managed to repell and counterattack the Covs once (on "easy"), and then hanging on for a while, but gave up on it, because this is just frustrating.

so sotp is broken when battleing ai? that sucks
Cameron Parris Dec 1, 2018 @ 7:32pm
No, it works just fine, the problem is most likely that your computer cant run the game properly.
Cameron Parris Dec 1, 2018 @ 7:32pm
Or a problem with how oyu installed the game.

Dude, your talking to a guy who cares very little if you insult me. I read what you said, and made a response. Don't gotta get butt hurt about it.

Will confirm, two players fighting an easy researcher still can't match their outputs. I get that I'm a slower turtle type, but this AI is nucking futs.

I also tried it with a researcher ai, didn't make much difference. Given the nuts economy I can only imagine economist is worse and aggressive moreso.
