Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion

Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion

Getting the outlaw sectors DLC for free?
So I booted up SOASE today, and found a weird bug. I was starting my game, Playing as vas loy, against about 8-9 other AI. It was the begining of the game, so i only had a few units, and had just taken over my 4th planet. It then seemed that my planets started spawning friendly militia. I thought that was wierd, as i hadnt even reserched any sort of culture, and my planets were about 70% loyal, as they were about 1 phase jump from my capital. Stranger still when the milita units phase jumped to a nearby neutral asteroid, and then a few neutral militia phase jumped back to one of my planets and started attacking!

Now i knew about the new Outlaw Sector DLC and how it made militia unit spawn in your planets and they would expand as they went on, but the trouble is that i never purchased this DLC. I seem to have aquired features of the DLC magically. I wasnt particually looking to get the DLC, as i am rather terrible, and these features seemed to make it a lot harder to expand early game.

Now my major question is this: When the Outlaw Sector DLC released, did the game also tweak the behavior of neutral militia to expand and spawn in friendly systems even without the purchase of the DLC? Because if so, i am a bit knarked, for getting something that i didnt originally want, and make my game a slight bit more harder for me.

Slighly shambled, would love some insight.

The behavior of the neutral militia has not changed. You shouldn't be getting the new militia. I just tested a version without the DLC and couldn't reproduce your bug. Can you describe what they look like or perhaps link a screenshot?

Should not be getting new militia? How do we tell them apart?
Because my last game has small groups of TEC ships (white icons, red fist flag) randomly popping up and hitting both me and my ally. For obvious reasons i couldnt see what it was doing to the other AI players.

I usually dont notice until i get the 'under attack' warning, so i do not know for sure if they spawned at the planet or warped in.
In any case though, every colonizeable system was already taken by players and pirates had been eliminated (turned off) and any initial neutral forces on the map had long since been eradicated.
Eventually i got fed up with those gnat attacks and built hangar defense in every system, backed by a remote repair. Unfortunately my AI teammate never did anything about those in its space and let systems die to it.

And i have not had that happen, as far as i can recall, in any games previous to the arrival of 1.85.

Mod enabled:
'trivial options': no superweapons and some other part of it.
Sorry to butt in, but it has been my impression that post-Rebellion DLCs seemed to download automatically and only need the payment to unlock.
From what you described it sounds more like "Insurgency" which is a TEC research subject that has been in for many years now. {ССЫЛКА УДАЛЕНА}

Correct. The Red Fists only pop up as either a result of a Culture-driven overthrow, or that research.

ok thanks, im still pretty new to this game, just wanted to bring it up in case it was related. It was also my longest game so far, due to not ending to doomsday cannon spam, so it kind of makes sense that it might simply not have been researched in other faster games.
Can you guys play online mine gives an network error also my friend has the same
I am not able to play online as of JUST NOW.

Units were TEC, and were friendly units (as in they had my insignia, and insignia colour over them). Had a Red fist over them as well, as if i had a rebellion, but as i stated, my planets were about 60% loyal, so that rules out the rebellion.

I have had friendly millita units while playing TEC Rebs, but i was playing Vas Loy, so that rules that out. The other units that phase jumped into my system were neutral milita, with a white insignia. My main knark is that i dont know if neutral milita were programmed to jump from system to system before in the vanila game, or that it was a DLC exclusive feature

Here is the link to the neutral units that warped into my system, from a neutral system

OK, now I'm sold, this does look like the Outlaw Sectors... Neutral militia were passive and didn't have the fist back in vanilla.

didnt mention this before, but i did have to re-install SOASE, so maybe thats what triggered the bug. It had an issue updating, so i re-installed.

When you go to start a game and click "Game Options" what does it say on the outlaw sectors button? Once in game, if you hover over the pirate bid button does it mention the Pirate Turf bonus in the tooltip?
Sorry to bump this old thread, but I'm also seeing this. When I preview the custom map that I'm currently working on, I sit and wait for a minute or two while the game speed is at 8x. You can see militia (red fist insignia) phase jumping to other planets to attack the resident militias. I can also confirm that I have not purchased the DLC.

The militias that are attacking other planets seem to phase jump in from nowhere. You can see them jump into the system, but you cannot ascertain their origin. This leads me to believe the DLC might have changed some things in the vanilla game.
