Outlaw Sector ships
Outlaw Sector ships have entered my gravity well as outlaw but some of those ships end up with my color and insignia. When I mouse over to get ship details it shows my player name as owner, even though there is the red fist icon on the ship's card.

Also when they outlaw sector ships leave my planet, ships I had built have dissapeared , even though not combat took place. Some of those ships even end up as types I have yet to research.

I am a bit confused what is going on, at first I figured my ships were being boarded and captured, but I do not understand why the ships fly my colors and in the ships info card say it is still my ship.

Can anyone help get me sorted ?

They act on their own accord but protect your planet, and strike out against enemy/neutral planets sometimes. Its really useful for defense when an enemy fleet attacks you and all your militia ships (The ones with Red fists on them) from adjacent planets all go to the one being attacked to help out.

And yes it gives you Kodiaks and stuff before you have them researched so your militia won't always lose against other militia who have the better ships early on.

Short version: They fly your colors but you can't control them, they help you automatically.

Is it possible to help buff them in anyway? Such as giving them resources or some kind of research?

You get more militia (up to a certain point) the more you upgrade your fleet cap.

Also the regular hull/shield/weapon research you do does affect the Militia too
