Mad Dark Fleet?

So, I'm playing a game as TEC Loyalists and a few times I've gotten messages about a threat that I need to prepare for. I assume this is the Mad Dark Fleet Titan event...but then I only ever spot Navigators? So I'm kind of confused? It even resulted in one of the capturable extractors being controlled by Mad Dark Fleet.

What am I missing here?

The Dark Fleet Titan now spawns 1 hour after the event fires and the navigators spawn. This prevents it from killing you if the first random event happens to spawn the titan 15 minutes into the game. :)

Oh, well that's fortunate! I think I first got the notification about 30 maybe 50 minutes into the game? So that might have been bad.

That's a relatively early Mad Vasari titan, but it still means you have been building your empire for 90-110 minutes. So you shouldn't be a sitting duck for it. :)

Bloody annoying fleet, Spawns pretty much every game for me and at the precise time when the AI is struggling. A.I. cheating, basically.
This time it was a three player, three star system map. I took one of the planets and made it a holiday home and then the AI spammed me with MDF ships. More than 30 and then, as expected. The MDF Titan shows up and I just surrendered.
Can't be arsed to deal with it. It still turns up if you disable Minor Factions.

I think mad fleet is from stellar phenomena not minor factions, I think if you turn off random events it should turn the mad fleet off too? unfortunately every other random event as well

yea, its the random event setting.

You can make a custom mod that disables that event

People keep talking about this event, and some even say they get it too often, but I have still never seen it happen. I do get other random events, and have indeed gotten all of them, but not that one.

It's the rarest event, and it can only happen once per game. Once it triggers, the event is really a warning and the actual titan itself will not show up for another hour.

The game files say it is the only random event with respawnCount 0, which I believe says it shouldn't reoccur after the initial time. If you have proof it happened more than once, I would be curious to see it.

unfortunately I wasn't recording it at the time and don't remember what save it even was so I'll have to wait for next time it happens (if)

Ive seen it spawn in 2 places at once on a multi system map, but never one after another. They do seem to get free ships after bombing out planets, are you sure they didnt just get a new fleet of sorts after crushing some AI planets?

yes, they were 2 distinct events with their own titans in each and each with their own announcement and happened a few hours apart, it was also 1 system map

Little old me over here, not having expected my errant question from almost a year ago to become a hotbed of discussion! I appreciate the answers and additional information y'all have provided. I can definitely say that it doesn't just happen once. I got two different notifications for it. Unless it's just notifying me of the same fleet, I'm pretty sure that means there are more than one per game.
