How do i change v1.85 to v.193
I'm trying to play the one mod that is current updated for 193 and my mod folder is v1.85, does that need to v1.93 in order to work? I have tried manually changing the folder to v1.93 but everytime i launch the game it add v1.85 back. The actual game is on 1.93 yet my folder for mods refuses to update to the newer version.

What am I doing wrong?

The mod is the only one updated to minor factions currently Sins_dark_reaver_Mod_v1.5.1 any help is appreciated. I have done mods before, usually i just put them into the version(xxx)mod folder, load the game and enable in game, apply changes and restart. Then it would run the modded game, now it just doesn't load anything and when i check the mod menu it says I have zero enable mods when i have the the text document EnableMods set to 1 and the listed mod.

Confusingly you still use the 1.85 folder. In theory mods from all the way back then would still work, so the devs have started calling 1.85 the "Mod version".

Unless they changed something in the recent update/DLC it's acting as it should.

As a test, this works for me (shows up and can be enabled in game settings):

I downloaded https://www.moddb.com/games/sins-of-a-solar-empire-rebellion/downloads/onlycapitalships-193

and placed the extracted OnlyCapital folder into the mod path which is labeled as v1.85 with the latest game version. (I have never played this game and this is a brand new install).

The EnabledMods.txt file contains (with no changes made):
TXT2
SinsArchiveVersion 193
Version 0
enabledModNameCount 0

So if it still doesn't work then its either the mod, something else is messed up, or your putting the mod in the wrong place. I'm sure you've over complicated it in some way. The only thing I did was drag the folder into the mod folder and start the game.
I Have done everything you have been doing, i was able to do this before minor factions with no problems. Now i put the mod in the 185 mod folder, i load the game, enter the mod menu, enable the mod and apply changes. Before it would reboot and i would see a new loading screen from big mods now it just restarts the game and see the original loading screen and intro. and when i check the mod menu it says 0 mods enabled even though i can clearly see that onlycapital ships is there, it simply won't load it.

How do you use mods when you pick a beta, like i choose the 191 beta and launch the game but it doesn't change anything for me, same issue with 193.

I can only use the 193 opt in and the 191 beta everything else crashes when i try to acess the settings menu.

Thanks, Yeah i use the one that the game tells me is the mod path; documents, my games, ironclad, sins, v1.85 Mods. Like when i load the game and go to the mod section it even lists it as an available mod, so it is finding the mod it just not enabling them.

I tried the beta and when i try to enter the settings menu it just crashes to desktop. How do i use debug/none debug mode? I can literally play a game but not enter the setting menu.

Oh you mean the dev Exe, yeah i tried both. Can't enter the settings without a crash to desktop. I guess ill wait till something is fixed.

Yeah the dev.exe only shows me this;

Assert @ D:\SinsRebellion\main\CodeSource\Engine/Archive/BinaryFileArchive.cpp(111)

numChars < bufferSize

Could be the mod I suppose. A Google search seems to show that might be part of corrupted or maybe missing files.

You could try to make sure the mod checksum in the game where you enable it matches what its supposed to be. I assume that will change if its not correct. Maybe where you download it they say somewhere what it should be.

If you didn't already you can also try to verify the Steam game files to make sure that's ok (though it doesn't check every file such as that mod txt file).

Besides that, I think there's probably nothing else I can do.
Thats the thing, there is no mod checksum, its always 0 even with a mod in the enable section.
