Best 4X game for a complete beginner?
I re-installed Sins after not playing it for who knows how long and i think i can now remember why i stopped playing it in the first place

I've always been a complete noob when it comes to 4X games and im starting to think i might need to look for a less complicated (countless upgrade options and hotkeys, insane amounts of micromanagement, no idea what ships im supposed to build and when, UI crammed full of things that make no sense to me...), more beginner friendly 4X game, preferably one with an UI that doesn't make ones head hurt

Why post here? Because i own the game myself and i couldn't think of a better place tbh

I wouldn't say this game is micromanage hell. I would say its fairly straight forward after a few playthroughs as one of the races. If anything, it's beginner friendly to get started.

SoaSE is straightforward becuz it isn't a true 4X game. Rather it is a real-time space strategy game, with minor faction governing controls and even more minor diplomacy elements. It will however suit the descriptions of the TC pretty well.

True 4X games are something like Stellaris, Galactic Civilizations or Endless Space.

Do you have experience with any RTS games? Sins is a hybrid RTS-4X game, and RTS is probably a bit easier to get into if you do not have experience with either.

I must stand with the others and have to say that sins is a game that has for an rts game extremly little micromanagement. I think your problem is more that the game might be a bit to slow for you and then you have alot of time in wich you think "what the hell am i supposed to do now?".
Especially in the beginning will you be spending more time waiting for resources rather then actually doing things. But in that time your scouts should have uncovered a few planets around your planet (always start with setting your scouts to auto-scout early game and preferable build a few more) then you have time to get a closer look at the map and maybe found out where the enemy is and start planning your expansion.
Actually it is for a big proportion in that part of the game where it will be determined if you will win or lose.

Now look what you did, i replayed the tutorials and gave the game another chance and even found a way to make UI less obnoxiously tiny. End result? Im now seriously addicted to Sins and i can't stop! I've barely done anything but play Sins since the last post on this thread was made

Sins is one of those special games where you boot it up, start a game, and then suddenly realize 6-10 hours have passed without you noticing. It's friggin' DANGEROUS.
