Help removing a mod
My game seems to be locked into Star Trek Armada 3. I've tried going into the files and changing the enabled mods txt file. I've tried *deleting* the file alltogether. I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling. I've tried verifying files. I've even tried clearing the cloud data. none of it worked.

Are you disabling the correct files? If you have STA3 in the Dev mod folder and regular mod folder, that could be the issue?

Outside of that, uninstalling and reinstalling is the only other real option

If you disable the mode in settings and then relaunch the game. it should revert back

Can't get to settings. the patch that they put out to fix the main menu didn't work for me.

I think you can disable the mod via the enabled mods txt?

please read my full initial post. I tried changing that, I tried deleting it all together.

There are only two reasons why deleting the enabledmods.txt file did not work, as that is literally the file Sins uses to determine if you are using any mods.

1. You deleted the wrong EnabledMods.txt file. There is a regular Rebellion game as well as a Dev.exe version. Each has their own mod folders and EnabledMods.txt files. Make sure you are looking in the right mod folder for the one you are using.

2. You installed the mod on top of your regular game installation (not in the mod folder). This is a big no-no. Sins has the ability to dynamically load mods, so you should never install a mod this way. Your only option is to reinstall Rebellion.

again, read the full post. I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling.

Uninstalling wouldn't remove any remnants from the mod if they were placed in the regular game installation folder. did you uninstall, verify the folder is empty and then reinstall? if its not empty you need to manually nuke the remnants.

That worked! Thank you!

I had previously gone in and nuked everything on my hard drive then verified, but what I didn't know was that Steam had copied the entire game's necessary files into My Documents, and THAT'S why the game thought the mod was still enabled. it was pulling from a different location for some reason.

Glad you got it working, Just a heads up the mods are supposed to go into my documents for this game, that where all my mods are, steam did not do it for some reason, they have to be there.

So the next time this happens you have to go into my documetns.

ok, well, every source of installation instructions I found clearly said Program Files and made zero mention of My Documents.

Just wondering how did you installed the mods initally? I'v always manually gone to that location and dropped file there. it also says when you press the "mod path" button.

it's been about a year since I initially installed it, but I absolutely remember following the instructions I saw on the actual ModDB page very closely.
