I made a shortcut from the exe to my desktop which fixes this but it is an annoying issue to have to do that.
When we launch sins through steam, it opens the stardock launcher and then for all of us the "Play" button is greyed out/unclickable.
The *only* way to play sins is to directly launch it from the shortcut inside the installation folder.
This is beyond unacceptable - why have a launcher if you can already launch it?
This is turning many of us off StarDock as a company, and rapidly turning us off future Stardock games.
EA forced their own launcher with Origin and it's killed a number of their titles, Stardock - do not go the same way - give an option to disable the launcher, or face a slow decline into the forgotten murky waters of game companies that are no longer trusted to produce good games, and so, collapse.
As mentioned everyone, you can just run the "Sins of a Solar Empire Rebellion.exe" directly from the steam install folder. Hopefully they fix the bug with the launcher but you already have a way to avoid the launcher.
What a great thing to implement, something that stops people playing the game - forcing them to use a workaround.
Stop acting like what they've done isn't a big ♥♥♥♥♥♥ - they've broken their own game by forcing ♥♥♥♥ down our throats.
End of the day, this launcher needs to be fixed at least but should just be removed.
There was no need for a launcher, everything is built into steam - you haven't even added steam workshop support!
The only thing we get more from the launcher is your social media pages, and information on your newest games.
You have added nothing worthwhile and yet removed capability - infact the prime capability (playing the game) - from most people.
Ontop of that, we are likely the vocal few - most will not have this working and then just not bother to play the game, they'll see "Stardock", associate it with the money-grabbing company that break their own game and not buy another.
How are you not seeing this? Is it simply ignorance through hubris?
The compromising solution would be to allow the launcher to be disabled, or - after running once a prompt pop up to enable/disable it.
