Stardock game launcher: how to get rid of it?
So here i am, wanting to play some sinsagain, suddenly that ♥♥♥♥♥♥ shows up and tells me to reinstall the game i have already installed on steam.

I do not have unlimited bandwith to constantly re-download games. What the hell.
Please tell me how i can get rid of this newest spanner in the works, or at least tell that retarded piece of ♥♥♥♥ software where the game i already installed is located. thx.

Sorry to hear you're having problems. If you could contact support@stardock.com we'd like to get some additional information on this issue so we can fix it. In the meantime, your games are still present; you don't have to reinstall them. For Sins you can launch Sins of a Solar Empire Rebellion.exe directly from the install directory as a workaround.
I have a similar problem if i click to launch sins the launcher starts but only has the option to install sins (which is installed) If i click on that option the launcher quits and sends me to the detail steam library view of sins. If i push the blue play button there the sins launcher starts again rinse and repeat.

I made a shortcut from the exe to my desktop which fixes this but it is an annoying issue to have to do that.

Myself and many of my friends are also having problems.

When we launch sins through steam, it opens the stardock launcher and then for all of us the "Play" button is greyed out/unclickable.

The *only* way to play sins is to directly launch it from the shortcut inside the installation folder.

This is beyond unacceptable - why have a launcher if you can already launch it?

This is turning many of us off StarDock as a company, and rapidly turning us off future Stardock games.
EA forced their own launcher with Origin and it's killed a number of their titles, Stardock - do not go the same way - give an option to disable the launcher, or face a slow decline into the forgotten murky waters of game companies that are no longer trusted to produce good games, and so, collapse.
I'm having the same issue!! Launcher does nothing.

I'm also having issues with a grayed out play button on the superfluous launcher.

I personally don’t care for the launcher either, it’s nice that you all added this, but for me, I just want to launch the game and play. Don’t need some fancy launcher window that I’ll have to spend more time working on to get the game to launch.

As mentioned everyone, you can just run the "Sins of a Solar Empire Rebellion.exe" directly from the steam install folder. Hopefully they fix the bug with the launcher but you already have a way to avoid the launcher. :TEC:

What a great thing to implement, something that stops people playing the game - forcing them to use a workaround.

Stop acting like what they've done isn't a big ♥♥♥♥♥♥ - they've broken their own game by forcing ♥♥♥♥ down our throats.
Agreed. I love this game and this launcher does nothing but make it not work. It is irritating. I will try to do this workaround thing but as someone pointed out above, this does not bode well for stardock. They could easily interact with their people through the community page here on steam. This launcher simply appears to be a way for them to advertise their other products. They added the "mods" thing but even that is annoying and an old school, clunky way to give us access to mods. Why the heck have they not opened up the mods to the Steam Workshop like most games do? I love Mount and Blade's mods as well as Skyrim's. It helps having them in the workshop so they are easy to use.
End of the day, this launcher needs to be fixed at least but should just be removed.
works for me and everyone in my list who plays sins, so it seems this issue is affecting a small amount.
I haven't had a problem with the launcher, but since Sins is the only Stardock game I own, I could certainly live without it.

Same problem for me and my buds. Hope it's fixed soon.
Oh god this is Anno all over again with Uplay, I'd strongly recommend you rethink forcing your launcher on people who are already using Steam. That is if you care about actually selling your games.

Uplay and the Stardock launcher aren't even remotely similar.

I understand that you've got an innate bias since you're the developer, but you're a developer of and unnecessary product that is actually doing damage to it's own community (sounds a lot like Uplay).

There was no need for a launcher, everything is built into steam - you haven't even added steam workshop support!

The only thing we get more from the launcher is your social media pages, and information on your newest games.

You have added nothing worthwhile and yet removed capability - infact the prime capability (playing the game) - from most people.

Ontop of that, we are likely the vocal few - most will not have this working and then just not bother to play the game, they'll see "Stardock", associate it with the money-grabbing company that break their own game and not buy another.

How are you not seeing this? Is it simply ignorance through hubris?

The compromising solution would be to allow the launcher to be disabled, or - after running once a prompt pop up to enable/disable it.
