Stardock game launcher: how to get rid of it?

So here i am, wanting to play some sinsagain, suddenly that ♥♥♥♥♥♥ shows up and tells me to reinstall the game i have already installed on steam.


I do not have unlimited bandwith to constantly re-download games. What the hell.
Please tell me how i can get rid of this newest spanner in the works, or at least tell that retarded piece of ♥♥♥♥ software where the game i already installed is located. thx.

I like Sins of a Solar Empire, but when i click on Play, I WANT TO PLAY THE GAME! and not see a launcher i have to get rid off, before i can play. If you really care for your Players, make an option to get rid of it. I'm not interestet in the Stardock Social Stuff and i don't own one of the other games. And YES it is like Uplay, it is unnecessary! For me it's Advertising you FORCE ME to watch!

It's not like it is difficult to get around. Go into your steam directory. Delete the launcher. Copy the Sins executable and name it the same as the deleted launcher. Now when you launch in steam you just launch the game....

Having the Launcher makes it impossible for me to play effortlessly, each time. Clicking play on the launcher does not launch the game. Unless I Verify Integrity of game cache each time, reinstalling doesn't work either. Is this an intended feature? The Launcher does not add any value to me, only more annoyances.

No i aint changing files around i shouldnt have to, i dont have to rebuild my car before work every day, i aint fixing this every time i wanna play.

And ♥♥♥♥ off anyone defending it, its not needed other than to stroke someones ego about trying to push games i either already have or have no interest in. Which is what Steam is for..

So yes to the guys saying it is like uplay, its irratating, useless and i dont want it.. It sure does sound like uplay.

Pal I completely agree with you - but they just don't care.

The people who created the launcher did so to justify their jobs, it's completely unnecessary and they should be reprimanded - they ADDED a barrier to playing Paradox games instead of making them easier to play.

Why not stick to updating the games with more content to bring in more users? There are no worthwhile benefits of the launcher - all it shows is people desperately trying to justify their jobs and Paradox's out of date ideas about the gaming industry.

Sadly I have to manually lift my old TA's headlight everytime I want to drive at night...

I hadn't had any problems at all until the most recent launcher update. As of today, I cannot load the game at all. I may have to completely uninstall / reinstall the game and hope it starts working for me. Great job with the advertising Launcher guys - total fail.

Have you tried launching from the sins.exe? If that works just make a shortcut of it on your desktop and launch from that.

I don't get you, since
03/23/17:
+ Added /nolauncher parameter to skip the launcher
written in the sdlauncher_changelog.

So you only have to commit steam the /nolauncher parameter.

If you don't know how, give the since of a solar empire entry in your library a right click, there
you get a couple of options. At the bottom you have properties.
You'll get a new registry card, showing in the general tab "SET LAUNCH OPTIONS..." Just click it and enter /nolauncher

Done, give it a try :)

I wouldn't mind the launcher so much if it worked. Since the update I'm unable to launch the game at all. The sins.exe isnt doing anything, and the launcher just relaunches itself. If i run devlauncher as admin I'm getting a popup saying "failed to initialize steam" Originally had it set to 182 beta as i was playing a mod, but have since tried reinstalling and running current with no mods...same issue

Have you tried doing as Raven1407 said? Put the no launcher command line argument and you can launch straight from steam bypassing the launcher. And maybe verify the local file as well to make sure none of your Sins files are corrupted.

Uplay is a full on drm client that is REQUIRED, broken, inadequate, buggy garbage. This launcher requires 1 click to go through or 1 click to bypass entirely. Calm the ♥♥♥♥ down.

"This will not turn into Uplay". So WTF is it there? As a software dev, I know one thing: you don't add unnecessary ♥♥♥♥. Because that has to be maintained and is a source of bugs (and bugs can mean vulnerabilities -> viruses)
