Sprint is not working.
Sprint seems to be bugged with PC. No matter what button you bind it for it doesnt work properly, it seems to switch itself on and off rapidly instead of being on when you hold the button. This makes lot of jumps and scripted action sequences extremely hard to pull off.

Sprint is toggled, you don't need to hold it.

There's an option to disable toggle sprint too, if you like it the other way.

I know it has toggle, it doesnt have any effect if I turn toggle off, same jerking movement as before and no sprinting.

Rumpelcrutchskin, to me this sound like the old keyboard stroke repeating issue has somehow not been fixed for you, which means you wouldn't be able to sprint. Pure speculation, but you could try this to test it out (the workaround for the old key repeating bug):

Enter the Ease of access centre (this can be accessed through Accessories after clicking Start), then click 'Make the Keyboard Easier to use'

Click 'Set Filter Keys'.

Click 'Set up Filter Keys'.

Click 'Turn on Repeat Keys and Slow Keys',and then on 'Set up Repeat Keys and Slow Keys'. Select the option to ignore all repeated keystrokes, and reduce the time option at the top to 0.0 seconds.

Go back.

Ensure that 'Turn on Filter Keys' is ticked at the top and apply. Dead Island now runs smoothly, when you're done, untick the box and apply.

Hope this helps.

Same here, no matter what button I assign it to, no matter if I choose toggle off or on - it seems to keep turning on and off very fast, which you can easly see on your weapons - they look like popping out and in the view.
Yes I have all filter keys switched to what AngelAbove suggested, yes I tried a different keyboard, yes it doesn't happen in any other game.
This makes the fight with the huge cannon guy a bit hard, now I'm stuck :(

EDIT: Okay. fixed it, by doing the opposite AngelAbove suggested - turning ALL filter keys off. :)

Nothing works, not the thing Angelabove suggested and not what Shoonay suggested.

Today I returned to the game and the bug is back, of course I didn't change anything in my key settings... something's might wrong, please fix it Techland!

EDIT: dammit, I was just about to record it with FRAPS for prove and all of a sudden it fixed itself. What the hell? :/

Sorry for double posting, but, today I ran the game again, and just to be sure fired up Fraps in the backgrounds before... and there it was again, the sprinting bug, I could finally record it, so here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8hKicFe6Gz8
Than I alt-tabbed out of the game to check if the video recorded without a problem, returned to the game and... wow, the glitch was gone! :D
I *think* for now it seems to work most of the time and fix the bug completely for me, go ahead and try it Rumpelcrutchskin, this may work. :)

Hey guys! I know the discussion is old, but:

Do any you, par chance, have this "cannot sprint" issue playing on a laptop (only)? Some info about your gear & input would be much appreciated.

We've found a track of a similar issue but it seems to be laptop-only, I'd like to check if they have common ground.

No, Intel/Nvidia desktop with Windows 7.
And it's still happening, nothing works. None of the other games never had similar problems.

Weird, it's not happening to me. Though I use an external keyboard on my laptop.

By any chance, Rumpel, you use one of those hotkey programs, like PhraseExpress, or those mappable keyboards with macros, like Zboard or SteelSeries or Logitech key mappings?

Nope, nothing like that.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I'm having the exact same issue...ever found a way to fix it by any chance?

This never happened on my old hardware, was running the game perfectly on an ATI HD 5750 and an AMD Phenom II X4 620 with 4 GBs of RAM, now I'm on an R9 270, AMD FX 8320 and 8 GBs of RAM and this is happening... :/

Would alt+tab twice work?
