Personally I have found that Windows 11 has fewer compatibility issues than any previous version of Windows. Migrating from XP to Windows 7 was the worst. There’s always a solution if one cares to search for it!

@OP, laptop is your culprit. Even on the old CD covers where they list the requirements for
the game, they have a disclaimer "laptop versions of these chipsets may or may not work." and "laptop versions of these chipsets are not supported.".
