HELP! How do you get the pope to lift excommunication!?
I don't even know how I got excommunicated. I was in the middle of a war so was quickly flicking through notifications. Now what I want to know is what can I do for the pope to lift it? I have tried to ask him but he says no. My relationship with him is +8.

get you relationship to +100 then ask him

You could also lift the excommunication by using the "Declaration of Repentence" event from the Intrigue tab. You have to pay him a good amount of money, but he lifts the excommunication.
