Change name of your country? (Kingdom, duchy, county..)

Can you actually change the name of your kingdom, duchy and the others? Was just wondering... I know in the Muslim countries your country is called what your Dynasty is called, but what about christian countries?

from what I've seen in gameplay videos, if you click near or on the name of a county or holding inside a county you can edit its name. However this is only for a specific physical plot of land or castle/town/bishoprick. I don't think there is a way to change the name of title, such as duchies, kingdoms, empires. If and when I actually get the game I'll probably try to change title names...

Short answer: no.

The only way you can change the name of your country is by changing your primary title if you have more than one title at your top level (ie if you have two duchies and your rank is Duke, or 2 Kingdoms when your rank is King) - say for example you have the title King of England and also King of France, you could then choose which one of those will be your main title, which is the one that appears on the map screen.

Also some counties change name depending on who rules them, this is particularly noticeable in the Balkans/Middle East.

As for Muslims, the dynasty name is indeed what appears on the map. The only exception is where the same dynasty rules more than one independent realm, in which case one of them will have the sheikhdom/emirate/sultanate name the same way the Christians do.

Oh, and as BMN said, you can change county/sheikhdom names like that if you want, but I don't think this has any wider effect. I've never done it though.

you can change the name of counties and castles, atleast if you're independant and you control them direktly, never tried changeing my vasalls county names nor vassal city names.

never found a way to change the name of a dutchy, kingdom or empire thou, i've looked a bit.

You can change it if you go into the text files manually, also, there's a mod in paradoxplaza that adds a whole bunch of titular duchies, kingdoms, and empires (you can name a new duchy, kingdom, empire anything below it, as long as you meet the requirements and have the title you want as your primary title)
