Titular titles
Just a question to everyone, how many titular titles do you know of, and how many have you achieved getting as a vassal/yourself.
Myself i managed to gain, Latin Empire, Kingdom/Sultanate of Rum, Kingdom of Cyprus, Kingdom of Trebizonde and Duchy of Seljuks. I know of the Empire titles of the invaders.
On another note i also obtained kingdom of Alania, Kingdom of Persia and Kingdom of Navarra (as these are all quite difficult to create, i feel good about myself! ;) .)
If wanting to know how?!, assassinations, marriages, give the claimant land in your empire and claim the kingdom. Then, imprison and banish him to gain the kingdom. (Titular titles cannot be revoked)

If you want to see the full list of titular titles, check the "landed_titles" files in your game files. But if you like gaining more and more titles, I guess you choose try some mods ... as any Paradox game, CK2 get more tasty when modded !

I know the empire ones like hispania can become titular well any title can.

Sometimes you will need to destoy the titles cause the de jure vassels may steal it from you.

That happened once I gave land to my son and he stole few titles.

Then I learned never give land out to family. I just killed the extra sons past 2 to cut down on unlanded son debuff.

You can change the laws to make it impossible for outsiders to take your land even though marriage since the law would make the child unable to inhert the land but their leige will get it instead. The child would instead be given a claim on it. I think a strong one.

Titular titles wont upset vassels though and will always get passed to first heir always since they have no land value.

You may have to destroy a few titles though to prevent your vassel going independent if they manage to get 80% of it. You can prevent dukes and kings geting 80% by not neccessary keeping weak but making sure they have their de jure lands. Your vassels wont go to war if they have the de jure lands usualy or a strong claim. I usually group the dukes under their de jure king when I can to keep revolts down easier. Easier to pop 20k troops in county of king to crush his opps I made my peaseats upset during a summer fair event.

So you may want to become a empire asap to prevent that.

If you playing a republic you can hold on to lots of king titles without fear of them being stolen since your dukes will be republics too and cant steal them. Which means you will also have to hunt down kill every king to take his title from dead hands. Also being a republic helps keeps your vassels weak if you want to go down that road but downside you be forced to have troops all over the map crushing their idiot mistakes ai makes.

I feel sorry for your sons, never had much trouble giving away kingdoms as a empire to my sons, just being a bit smart in when and how to give (like giving to their children instead!)

And i was basically just talking about the titular titles because there is so few (if any) at the start, while if you begin the game (like in 1221) There is so many titular kingdoms and even the Latin Empire out for grabs! ;)
Made it my hobby of grabbing all the titles, and spreading them around the empire on kingdoms that i cannot create (like Wallachia) or by splitting different kingdoms into smaller parts (like Greece!)

well playing a republic your forced into senority system so their tends to be murders a lot so you have to kill the unwanted men or they go after your kid to claim it. Once I had wife of one tried so I locked her up and killed her husband. Lost my steward that way and he had good stats too. Family definty not loyal in republic exept your women of your family. Good thing my spymaster caught that or I my family tree would be a lot less in size.
