Map Mode
Might seem like a silly question.... but ... How do I access or drop the map mode into the minimap section ? Running linux and yes, I've done the tutorial several times and I always get stuck at the map mode section. I simply can't see where to drag the map icon to the minimap.

There's five slots to the right of the minimap that you can drop the map modes into.

If you want to access all the map modes, there is a + button on the top right of the minimap. Clicking on that will open up the map modes.

Thanks, I don't know how I missed that!

The game just seems to essentially freeze for me at the same point. I can't do anything except skip that part of the tutorial or exit.

Really confused me when I came back to the game after a month's break the other day. Took me a few minutes to locate the map buttons! I guess they were moved in one of the recent patches. I think I preferred it how it was before, not sure why it was changed.

OK, so ... where are they? Am I just being stupid or is it a problem with the Linux version? I can't figure out how to drag-and-drop the modes into the mini-map.

This. When you've opened the map modes with this button, just drag the ones you want into the boxes to the right of the map screen (max of 5).

Got exactly the same problem.

I also tried preparing the the box before reaching the map mode step in the tutorial then continue to the step in question. The tutorial asks me to press the independent realm button, I press the shield icon I added earlier (which if I hover it tells me it's the independent realm button), but nothing happens and the tutorial will not continue.

Oh, I'm using Linux as well.

Doh!

Skipped the first tutorial and continued until I reached the basic war tutorial. Once again I'm asked to press the independent realms button. This time when I press it, the map mode actually changes to show the independent realms view, but the tutorial nevertheless won't continue.

So it's probably a bug with the tutorial in Linux, then.

Windows also, having the same issue.

Mac also, exact same issue. Seems like the recent patch broke the tutorial.

Ditto. Can't progress past Page 7 of the Basic - Introduction tutorial. This is NOT the way to make a good first impression. :-(

I'm going to leave the game for a while and pick it up when the bugs are resolved. Not impressed really but it looks like it should/could good so I will give it another chance in the future.
