Hello, and thank you for your interest in Crusader Kings II.

Sadly we do not have enough manpower to fully maintain the Steam forums as well as our own forums. You are most welcome to post any issues or thoughts on these forums, but you should be aware that the chances of an official reply to your post is very slim.

We are however active over at http://forum.paradoxplaza.com and there you can gain access to our technical support forums as well as mods and all kinds of good stuff.

You can also always open a ticket with our support departmetn: support.paradoxplaza.com

Linux user. 12.04 LTS.
Game runs fine....except the land masses rander black. Preventing me from seeing borders and stuff. I can't play the game :c

Supplican, as many others have said, it is not possible to easily access your tech support forums. You keep on insisting everthing is working fine. It isn't. Listen to your customers and give us open access. Registering does nothing. Using different web browsers and different computers makes no difference. Your web sever even takes a very long time to respond. Tired of the denials and excuses. Just fix it.

Who are all the people that I help there every day, then? How do they get there? We have over 600,000 current members on our forums, I promise you there is no general problem with access.

I'd like to help you get access. What exact problem do you have though? Is it an inability to get onto the forum site at all, or to create an ID there, or to register games there, or what? Click on this link,

FYI I'm not a Paradox employee, just a volunteeer, so I couldn't "fix" the forum website even if there was anything wrong with it.

I already explained my situation about the forum in detail to you in another thread. One of the threads from another user who could not get access to the forums. I already stated in the other thread that even the help, tech support, and FAQ forums show no posts but no solution was provided. FYI I am one of the 600,000 members on the forums, along with other registered users who don't have access. We can't know how many users gave up before finishing jumping through hoops for access.

Also, the info page for the demo version directs users to these Steam forums for tech support anyways, not the Paradox site. It has been weeks since I posted about issues here and you are the only one who bothered to respond. I appreciate your attempt to help but it really has been insufficient. I am glad there were demo versions so I did not waste money on a buggy game with no official support. Sorry if I sound pissed - it is because getting ignored by devs pisses me off.

Having vBullitin based forums that work properly isn't hard and many others manage to do it without locking out users. Sending people to the steam forums for tech support then providing none is an inexcusable failure for the devs. Sending people to the Paradox site for tech support which some people have had trouble accessing even after following all the required steps doesn't make any sense at all. We will never know how many users gave up on getting tech support due to access difficulties. But you can at least count me as one.

I would never even bother registering for the Paradox forums, as I think it is retarded that I cannot just view them without registering. Too big of a waste of time, too many other games to play that are not such a hassle.

We DO provide Tech Support on the forums, I do it virtually every day. I've answered a half-dozen CK2 posts there just now. I promise you it works.

They LOOK empty if you have not registered CK2 there. Doing that takes less than two minutes, and is all Paradox ask of you in return for having no DRM on their games any more. Not too much to ask, surely. But if you'd rather spend 10 minutes here complaining about lack of access instead of 2 minutes getting access, that's your call.

If there is some problem with the registration system there not accepting your "View CD Key" code, the Forum Help forum I linked to can still be posted in, to get help on that.

As I said the help forum is also unavailable. The demo does not provide a key so it is impossible to register it. Thus the forums are not an option for tech support at all, even for just viewing only. I went through the process of verifying by email and such. Most of the forums still look empty and cannot even be viewed to check if others have had similar issues so I can try any solutions offered. It is just stupid to lock out players from even viewing the forums for fear that a few of them might have pirated the game. Having DRM is pointless because the pro hackers will break it easily anyways but walling off tech support away from new players is not the answer. I expect a product to work at purchase. If I see a demo I will try it first to see if the game functions properly on my system. It does not. There might be a simple fix but I wouldn't know without tech support so I won't buy the game. I am not going to gamble on whether fixes exist or not. I am just going to go play other games.

It looks like the Paradox web site is behaving better now. A few parts of the site are now visible. There are still frequent connection failures to the server. The tech support subforum is still locked and no posts there are visible. A few other subforums are visible. If you are unwilling to open up the full tech support subforum then a tech support subforum for demos would be nice. Perhaps have a pinned thread with a list of known issues and possible solutions. I really want to give you guys my money. I just need to find a fix for the crash problems first.

I purchased the Republic DLC for CKII except it did not automatically load to my game as advertized. So, the Steam tech support tells me I have to work it out with Paradox. Paradox tells me I have to register the game with them first before I can post a blog entry. Registering the game has not happened regardless of what I do. I think signing up for ObamaCare was easier than the Rube Goldberg crap you get here!

All you have to do is create an ID there, and respond to the confirmation email the forum sends you.
Then paste in the "view CD Key" from Steam into the MyGames/CK2 field, Ok that and you're done. What exact problem are you having, at which step of that process?
Note you can always post in the Forum Help forum there even if you are having problems.
