Latin Empire
I'm curious how often people try being the Latin Empire and how it works out for you if you do, also what interesting historical events happen. I just started a Latin Empire playthrough, starting at the 1204 start date. One thing that has just started happening for me is the Rising of the Shia, which I never saw before as I usually start in 1066. I'm a little nervous about the Mongols as they've just shown up and I can easily see them reaching me in Greece.:diplomacy:

As the LE I find it best to take your claims in Bulgaria immediately, it's a sure win (most of the time) and gives much needed troops as your main rival the BE is always scheming. I hope the BE's attack the Muslims, which they usually do, and attack after they have lost a sufficient number of men. I have no strategy for the Mongols lol, this is just "year 1-5 survival"

The Byzantines attacked the Sultan of Rum early on and I was able to take a duchy from them. I also pressed my claims against Bulgaria and Rum took Anatolia from the Byzantines. So right now I'm about as strong as or stronger than the BE. But I've got the Sultan of Rum to my south and east, the Khan of Cumania (who controls Cumania, Wallachia, and Hungary and has reformed the tengri religion) to the north, and the Mongols will probably eventually make their way to Greece. So I've survived for a decade and a half so far, but the Mongols make me worry. Plus I'm not sure I'll be able to hire the Templars or the Hospitallers because they're vassals of the King of Jerusalem. :diplomacy:

I wonder if possible to edit a few files so you can morph the latin empire into roman one thus geting claims on rest of europe. And makeing orthodox a hersy of catholic instead. I know its gamey to make catholic a hersy and then change to it so you dont have worry about hertic anymore.

Since this post comes up first when you google ck2 LE strategies. For anyone reading this in the future.

When you first start, marry someone to HRE, get an alliance. And take everything. You can leave the BE with like 4 provinces left within the first 5 minutes of starting. After that. Take Epirus, Greece. Whatever. Anything you can. Use the HRE, if you're allied to them, you won't even need to raise your armies.
