Why the auto-surrender?
Ive been away from CK2 for a bit.
I jumped back in once the SoA was released.
One thing I noticed (other than jews) is that if you are losing a war, the moment you hit -100% the game automatically surrenders for you.

Ive had wars were I hit -100% for a few days, have a major battle and come back and win.
I even posted a SS of an MP game with that same scenario awhile ago.

Is there any way to turn off this auto-surrender?

that was patched in long ago before SoA. its to stop players from abusing it by just never surrendering. theres no way around it

Well that sucks, just had a game were im at -50% on 3 wars and finally get the Hungarians to take my daughter as an alliance pact.

They charge in with theyre 10k event troops and win my wars for me, but I lose the last one they didnt get to in time and had to pay 150gold. :\

Thems the breaks.

well you cant realistically win every single war everytime. you can always get revenge later

I know I cant always win.
Im not new to that concept.
But given 10 or so more days, I could have ;)

exactly why the AI forced you to surrender instead of giving you more time :claugh:

But Im Norse, A Pagan!
What happened to magnificent last stands, shoulder to shoulder with your shield brothers.
Entering valhalla with arms open.
Not signing a damn paper saying "I quits!"

well at -100% its just assumed that you "lost" already and have no choice but to surrender. it works the same way at 100% and you send an offer for peace the AI cant refuse it

Bah! Game mechanics and theyre tedious why's and how's.
But thank you, for answering my question.
I will destroy the Bulgarians now.

If you control certain enemy territories they can't force a surrender even at 100% until they reclaim it, so it's a way to cling on if you think you can make a comeback. Unless the game decides it feels like doing so anyway and arbitrarily ignores its own rules, which it often does.
