list of vassals
Hello,

I know there is a list of vassals available in the character screen, but is there a way to filter (or order) them by power ?

I rule over a very large empire and was exactly at the limit. Suddenly a new vassal was added to the limit, making me execeeding it.
I have some tribal count vassals I did not give to a duke (for some reasons) and did not want before being forced to.

So there's some options to why I currently exceeds the limit :
_one of my tribal vassal count upgraded to a feudal one
_one of my vassal titles was split between his children
_one direct vassal of one of my vassal is rebelling against his liege

Each one calling for a different reaction but for that I need to know which is it, and as I own several "small" vassals that didn't count in the limit I do not know (and can not know appart from going to the character screen of over 30 of them - pretty silly) which is the good one.

Nothing relevant in the messages list or in the diary

i think, if you go to that screen where you can search for people over the world, select realm, and click on the "rank" to sort them from the higher to lower rank, you can filter them by "power"
also, you can choose somewhwre to only show people that have land, making it easier
(the button to search for people is on the right bottom of the screen)

If you go to the realm view (by where the family tree is) it sorts all your vassals by number of troops they have.

*Assuming that's what you meant by power.

Doesn't work as it lists all vassals, not just direct vassals. Unusable with a large empire such as mine (something like 800 vassals).

I wish there would be a simple way to manage this as it really hurt you when you have too much...

The realm tree only shows direct vassals last I checked.

Ok, directly in the realm tree. Sorry I didn't understand.

But sadly no, it's not what I am looking for. I just want to know which vassals are counted in the vassal limit, seems pretty absurd to not be able to obtain this information (from gameplay perspective as well as historical)

Yeah I see what you mean. The UI is a bit outdated in some areas after all the DLC.
I was under the impression that the vassal limit is based on direct vassals only ie they report directly to you. Counts under dukes and baronies under counts of yours wouldn't contribute. You should be able to differentiate them on the map based on the size of their shields. If you're as large as you say you are you should really have mostly dukes if not kings as direct vassals.

On the character screen, under vassals, only your direct vassals show. This does include all kings/dukes/counts directly under you, but also all barons in the holdings you control yourself. If you have a lot of counties with many holding slots, then sure, there's a lot of barons showing up there as well.
But you can sort this list by rank, and then you'll see that's it's pretty easy to sort out the counts from the dukes, as everyone until a certain point will have the rank of 'duke of...'. I'm pretty sure this is what you're looking for.

Yeah, I know. The problem is a count only count in the limit of vassal if the government is feudal and not tribal (which mean they must have a castle, not a village).
But they do appear as rank count, so there's no way to tell if a vassal count for the limit or not.

I have mostly dukes and kings as vassal, but many counts as well from newly conquered lands (mostly tribals) I do not want to give for now a variety of reasons (ambitious, cultural difference, new domain in sight, high skilled council membre, etc...).

The problem is not that at some point I must give away the county, it is the essence of the limit (avoid balkanization) and I totally agree with the game mechanism, no, the problem is I exceed the limit for a reason and I can not know wich.
If I want to give away a vassal to a duke I have no way to tell I if my current level of vassal in the limit will go down appart from going to each character and looking, which is silly.

As ( ͡°╭͜ʖ╮͡° ) said there's issue with the UI with all the changes made to the game since the release, it's not the only one, but this one is just awfull for large feudal empire expanding via tribal conquests...

I'm not sure this is actually true. I believe they still count towards the vassal limits.

Nah he's right about that. Tribals don't count if you're feudal.

It is completely true. I just created three duchies thinking it would lower my vassal limit but no. No it didn't...
