And sadly it didn't... it still gets stuck there... I have tried uninstalling it and then reinstalling it but that didn't work either... Do you know anything else I could try that might help make it work?
IF NEVER:
Please go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\crusader kings ii\DX\ and run dxsetup.exe
Please go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\crusader kings ii\ and run vcredist.exe
If that doesn't help, please try installing ALL of these Microsoft modules:
First: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=8328
Then: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35
(If that doesn't do anything then http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109 )
Then: visit the Windows Update site and allow it to apply all .NET updates/patches it wants to, for all .NET versions.
IF IT USED TO WORK BUT NOW DOESN'T:
Please try a full clean re-install:
- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "delete local content" in Steam-CK2
- manually delete all files and folders left under Steam/CK2 AND Documents/Paradox/CK2
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
IF NEITHER HELPS:
Please post a dxdiag.txt (you can delete everything after the end of the "Sound devices" section for brevity) and your Documents/CK2/settings.txt. From your Documents/Paradox/CK2/logs/ directory, post system.log . Open setup.log in notepad and search for 'checksum', post that line only here too please.
A full clean re-install as stated did fix the problem, though I missed deleting the contents of documents/paradox/ck2 and it didnt work.
For the developer, it may be worth noting that when the error was occuring during the loading screen, there was no hourglass cursor (infcat the cursor only appeared when the application stopped responding, with the standard windows hourglass icon, for me on win7 this was the blue circle)
A newer version of Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable has been detected on the machine.
dont fully understand explain plz
Thanks in advance for any help :)
It appears that some relatively recent McAfee update (April?) doesn't like certain games. McAfee is now recognizing some game .exe files as Artemis Trojans and quarantining them. It's frustrating because these games ran fine with McAfee prior to that update, but now I have to restore their .exe files from quarantine and then turn-off McAfee (because it won't allow me to mark these files as "trusted) in order to get those games to run.
McAfee didn't appear to be quarantining the CK2 .exe file, but since it was causing issues with other games I suspected it could be the culprit with CK2's recent issues. That appears to be the case because it was only by turning-off McAfee that I was finally able to get CK2 up and running again.
So, if you're having a problem now loading CK2 when it always worked before then it could be your anti-virus program.
So when I finally saw a youtube video, it worked for me, here is a YouTube video that might help you guys:
I changed Windows 10 to Windows 7 btw.
