Irish Britannia

Hello Community,

this is bjornvader with a request for future understanding.

I have a background in 4X games going back some 7+ years (mostly civ3/4/5{civ5 sucks})
I also own Victoria 2 with all xpacs, and CK2 with rajas, republics, islam, rome, old gods, sunset & abraham
(tho i must admit i do not use sunset, as it is pure fantasy and for the sake of this goal, not using gods of old, either) EDIT : the gods of old is still active, i just started at 1066.

While I understand that Ireland in CK2 is basically Japan in Vic2, I consider uniting the empire of britania
under irish rule a lofty goal that i have worked tirelessly to achieve. Below i will better illustrate my frustration.
if anyone out there has united britania under irish rule, please help.


STARTING AS KING MURCHAD OF MUMU

My current strategem is to first unite duchy mumu, piecemail osraige & cill dara, take lagain/dublin in one
fell swoop, then individually vassalize & revoke titles of each county until i own the entire of ireland.
from here, i start a vassal merch. republic from laigin, gift them osraige run by a dynasty member, grant
duchy of mumu's counties to dynasty, giving its cap to one of my brothers for the title of duchy. this i can
usually accomplish in my first king and unite the island, grant titles, form merch repub. by the year 1085.

From here, i immediately begin the conquest of wales, regardless of the dynasty of england. which i can usually
do, and form the kingdom title of said, with my second king, starting with the southern welish kingdom first,
then powys to prevent english invasion, then gwynned. I find this more important than scotland as a first target
merely to prevent english growth.

then the dreaded conquest and usurping of scotland. i hate scotland. this country has single handedly taught me
more about invasion, title succesion, and patience than any other goal i've had in this game. it's also ruined
almost every game.

SPOILERS ON MY GAME PLAY

step one, the great reroll. get a chancellor and a backup chancellor with scores of 14+
step two, ambition : marriage
step three, ambition : wealth; borrow jews; expel jews (the second you create ireland, welcome jews back and never expel again)
from there, just fix the king/ambition ireland
step four : pilgrimage while training troups (santiago)
step five : wait. wait for your army to be at max. patience is a virtue.
step six : hire band of breton, conq desmuhain, then with army STILL RAISED, revoke urmuhain ( i cant spell )
step seven/eight : fabricate claims osraige/cil dara while attempting to piss of/kill earl of desmuhain to end 10 yr. treaty
step nine : laigin/dublin in one war (almost always this is one country)
step ten : unite ireland one county vassalize/revoke at a time, conchatta last which is almost always war
step 11: vassal merch. republic of laigin lead by dynasty member, gift away duchy of mumu to dynasty leaving me northern
half of ireland with demense of 8
step 12 : marry off my now entriely too large court. i often have a court size of over 200 very early in the game.
step 13 : southern wales then powys, then gwyned
step 14 : spend one kingship beefing up ireland's castles in my demense (at this point im rocking 25+ gold/month if not more) EDIT : more like +18 to +20 at this early stage
step 15 : scotland. bloody scotland. two counties at a time. knowing the patience to not usurp the crown if
crown authority is to low. knowing to not grant the kingdom of alba to my heir as that will ruin my laws of centralization, etc.

while doing these steps, im also building cities all across my demense of ireland in my 3 held duchies with a demense of 8

in fact, do everything to make sure england does not gain any land it does not already hold.

with ireland, wales and scotland under my belt, my army matches england but i oft drop the ball for various reasons
including but not limited to learning new and exciting ways the game mechanics ruin you in the invasion of scotland.

I decided to go for the Rome achievement super late in the game it was actually pretty intense, race against the clock to rip chunks out of the HRE, find a way to break the peace treaty, assasinate people, telling my pope to excommunicate people, fund rebellions.
