Supporting other Shia nations?

I want Shia Islam to spread but I have a hard time expanding (Because of well... ''Home problems''.). So can I somehow support shia characters in other realms to get maybe a liege title?

Right now the problem is that Im the only ''big'' Shia realm in the region but I could really use other Shia nations because im having a hard time defending against sunni holy wars.

And to make things worse the AI just has a hard time standing by the religion they have. I have had some Sayyid sons I have sent out (Decadence so I banish them). Sometimes they land in a sunni realm and nearly instantly convert to Sunni islam :C

Other than assassinating everyone in their way or pressing their claims, not really. If you're the caliph, you could always Jihad weak infidel kingdoms and leave Shia rulers in charge..

I suspect the reason the AI converts easily is because experienced Muslim rulers tend to rack up extremely good relations with their vassals due to having high prestige and piety (and possibly being Sayyid). It's therefore quite likely they'll be able to get people to accept requests to change religion.

its better to conquer the known muslim area in ck2 then import into eu4 and unite muslim as your first move. Problem though is that if you dont have tons of cash on import your going hard time building your buildings in eu4. 1000gold is not enough you would need something 1 mil gold. fyi make sure you have a county near the christian spain nation so you can westernize.

What I did was invite heirs and people with claims, ambitious, brave, etc. from Sunni realms and convert them to Shia. There were many adventurers that started off from my realm and I would support them in their wars. Also taking the holy sites has the advantage of helping your moral authority and decreases theirs.
