How high can a skill like Diplomacy or Stewarship be?
Just wondering how high the skill can go and what I should look for if I can get it.

Depends if you cheat ;). But otherwise if you are trait herding you could get and average of 15 or 20 when lucky. Damn I miss those guys :(

No limit. I had rulers that went as high as 35.

In my ironman games I always shop for the best councillors. I'm not happy unless they are all 20+ in their primary stat. I'll live with 17+ if I have to do so, though. Depending on how lucky I get, I've had councilors with 25+ at times, although not all of them at the same time. I even had my martial councillor with a 37 martial skill a couple of times, but that was because of The Maid event chain. The highest I've seen apart from that is 27-28 on ironman. Possessed courtiers can sometimes top 30+ when they are receiving military advice from Jesus or Satan, but that is temporary so I usually just ignore them.

Here's a screenshot of my council in my current ironman game working on the Mongol achievment. My heir has a 24 diplomacy, which is about standard for a Genius with great traits plus Grey Eminence, which is what I always work for in my heirs.

The stats can actually go up to 100, but it is quite unlikely that anyone could get there in the un-modded game. Take a look at this screen from the Elder Kings mod:

Peace out.

I am not sure what stat you are looking to get high... But, an easy way to trait herd as a poster above called it is too Get a steward with Midas Touch. Train your 1st heir with that Steward. After that train your own heir with the Midas Touch.

You will by the 3rd or 4th generation get 23-25 on the steward skill points.
Have a genius child with genius parents educated by a genius. It was great having a character with 36 diplomacy(+99 personal diplomacy) with 10 or higher in ohter stats. He was loved by all including his enemies.

An emperor-level Republic? I didn't think that could happen.

Neither did I. So I just had to go and prove myself wrong.

Next stop, a muslim republic! With grapes and decadence!
