They're all pretty good now. I think the new Iberians are a high point, although the revised mediterranean portraits (as this thread suggests) tend to produce the most attractive people. The Persians are really good as well (although they have a tendancy to develop epic porn staches).
The Turkish portraits I didn't like originally (they have this weird, almost grey skin tone) but they've grown on me over time and their king/emperor tier clothing looks really cool. I tend to play Turkish characters more than anything else, so yeah..
Despite being quite old, the African portraits also hold up surprisingly well.
For men, i love the russian portraits. They are always badass, and the oldness give them the look of wise and strong lords.
