Instant out of sync when starting the game
Hey guys,

since Paradox removed the meta servers me and my friend are unable to play multiplayer in our LAN.

* we're both using the same internet connection
* we're behind a router - NAT configured 192.168.0.10 my IP - 192.168.11 the second IP
* router is UPNP configured
* no firewalls
* we tried CK2 on our linux systems too, same connection problems, so the OS seems not to be an issue here.

What happens: We're both starting the game via Steam, setting up a multiplayer game. We're finding our games when we open a new one. Everything works until in-game - then, when we hit play to un-pause the game the second one who is not hosting gets instanty out of sync.

It somehow seems like the connection which was established via the multiplayer/steam game menu is not being maintained. We also looked the packet stream via Wireshark and upon the in-game start the packets don't reach the second PC anymore.

We can play every other game together with this router setup so this is really strange, because the game initially connects us, but is then instantly out of sync when we hit start.

Any idea whats wrong?

Thanks for reading!
Bernhard

You can try deleting map cache. Go to your /documents/paradox interactive/crusader kings II/map and delete the two files inside. The game will create them when you launch it. Should both of you do this it is very likely that your issue will be fixed

Try running the game in singleplayer first, then save it and load it in multiplayer.

Hello,

I was having the exact same issue and I have tried both the recommended fixes. The deleting of cache did not work however save and load game worked.

Thanks.
