Possessed
Is there a way to get rid of possessed? Also, what events does it have? All I know of is Voice of Satan and the Holy Comet, along with becoming Cathar (which ruined my Ireland playthrough.)

Apparently there's an event chain where you get all 7 virtues. Voice of Jesus I think? So you could get lucky.

Possessed can be ignored. There's an event where some priest offers his excommunication service and you have a chance to be cured. The other event chain, the voice of Jesus, is something of a complete different order. That one will break you for a few years (huge opinion penalties, diplomacy to zero), all the way to a super buff of 20 extra martial when Jesus starts to give military advice. Since we all know he was a great general .. ;)

Here's an example of a queen of mine a while back when she had the buf ^^

Voice of Jesus is probably more a Joan of Arc thing. ;)

I don't get how being cathar ruined your playthrough, free CB on all your catholic neighbors, wohoo. Just save some money for mercs and go to town. Starting out as a heresy or converting fairly easy is one of the most OP things you can do in this game.

Edit: You can also just convert back to your parent religion. (Not if you're zealous I think)

It does ruin it if the pope declares a crusade. Or if the HRE presses holy war after holy war. Even so, the "infidel" modifier is really bad with your vassals. By the way... how do you convert back?

It may have included Scotland, Iceland, Wales, Norway, and about half of England.

I thought they only call crusades if you have some important Holy Sites.. I had the whole british isles and half of modern day france and never got a crusade called on me.

the pope can call a crusade on a number of different targets. including ireland scotland and england. the kingdoms that he can call them have a priority ranking and the pope generally calls crusades against whatever target is of highest priority at the time being. usually that ends up being jerusalem but for example if the kingdom of italy was to come under the control of pagans or muslims then it has a much higher priority than jerusalem and the other targets

I actually was thinking of early crusades then, I usually end my playthroughs before 1100+ because I get too powerful too quickly :(

the first few crusades are normally for jerusalem because the other major targets are at least partially controlled by christians. if they ever win jerusalem then next up is usually spain depending on if catholics or muslims are in control of it. after that it largely depends on who is winning where. it could be for hungary if its still tengri or it could be for scotland if the norse ended up conquering it or it could be neither if they're both catholic controlled

Do crusades actually happen against catholic heresies?
