Legitimizing a b.a.s.t.a.r.d daughter
I had a daughter with some random courtier, and when she was born, I had an event asking if I wanted to legitimize her, acknowledge her as mine (with the option to legitimize her later) or just reject her.
I decided to acknowledge her as mine. But now, she is 20, and I can't find the option to legitimize her...
Am I supposed to be able to, or not?

Thanks!

I did a brief Internet search and it seems the option to legitimize a bastard child is in Intrigue. Did you look there?

No, its not in there. Neither in the "decisions" list nor in the available plot lists.

Having legitimized Bastards before i know for a fact the option is there. It might be possible that you cannot legitimize female characters OR that she can only be legitimized if she is in direct line of succession

She is my direct daughter. And the lady that gave birth to her is still one of my courtiers.
I don't see the option to legitimize her anywhere :(

If its not in intrigue then you cant legitimize her

If you have already recognized her I don't think you have to do it later. I believe if you pull her up in the character view it, it tells you if she is a legitamite heir. You can even look in your own charcter view as there is a section for "heir". click there and it will tell you all the potential heirs.

I've only played this game for a few hours though so I could be completely wrong. Hope this helps.
AFAIK there is a mistake in description, since this mechanics doesn't work with girls (at least, under Agnatic or mixed law, never checked for Basques).

So, if you haven't decided to legitimate her after birth, suppose you won't get the chance.

Are you filling the requirement? Are you her direct liege and do you have 20 piety? IF yes and there is still no option in Intrigue tab, then this supports this mistake and you'll stuck with b.a.s.t.a.r.d.

P.S. Also, I'd like to say how stupid the Steam Forum is, since you can write for example the word "idiot", which is clearly abusive, while you can't say a proper normal word like a-child-born-from-unmarried-parents.

Well, she is my first born child and my succession law is agnatic-cognatic primogeniture (So girls can inherit) and I have about 1500 piety. Since I also have a son and a few younger daughters, she would be 2nd in line of succession if she was legitimized.
Could it not be working because I have a son as my heir already?

Agnatic-cognatic means the oldest son will inherit, if none available then the oldest daughter...kill your son ? ;)

Yeah, except that, I don't really want my daughter to inherit... I just want to legitimize her, so I can use her to form alliances.

SHe's still your daughter, so if you marry her off her husband will still be your ally. It's just her children won't be of your dynasty, since female b*stards cannot marry matrilineally. She's still good alliance-bait though, so marry away.

Ok, I'll try it, thanks
