How do I get primogeniture.
I'm playing as a duke in Ireland and when I hover over the primogeniture law it says that my title must be a Viceroyalty. What exactly does that mean?

that is not what it says, you read the trigger wrong. Viceroyalty means you are serving at the pleasure of the ruler, ie your kids do not inherit your duke and above titles and the king/emperor can take them away for any reason

It says your title must NOT be a Viceroyalty.

And Warlordnipple gave you a description of what a Viceroyalty is. It doesn't matter because you aren't one or else the dot next to the trigger would be red.

So lets translate your conditions into simple english:

You must have come to power for at least 10 years and can only change a succession law once.
You cannot be fighting wars wether externally or internally at all.
You must not be an invalid or child.
The title laws you wish to change cannot be a viceroyalty title.
You must be in positive relations with all you counts and dukes. Kings also if you are changing the laws of a empire.
You must either be the holder of the kingdom of Asturias with high or absolute authority or hold the viceroyalty of the kingdom.

Note because you are tyring to change succession laws it is impossible to change said laws as a viceroyalty as per condition 5. Conditions 8+ are all just the last sentence of my explanation and are generic checks to make sure you control the kindom you are trying to change the laws for.

Basically make peace and get high crown authority and you can change it. Also rule 10 years.
