I agree, it happened too often before, but it's a shame they removed it completely.
Also, the epidemics are way to frequent now. I realize that there were a lot of epidemics and even quite a few pandemics in the dark ages, but it's not realistic that half the court gets every single disease. I imagine that the nobility were also quite good at isolating individuals with serious diseases in a way that smallfolk weren't able to do, so even if it hits a province it shouldn't hit the nobility as hard as it does.
Although, it may be just me but I also feel as though the diseases are less deadly now. They get virtually every disease but also survive virtually every disease they get. Whereas before, they rarely got diseases, but when they did there was a fair chance they'd actually die from it.
Same as raiding events to gain viking was fun.
Think they messed up something, cause I can´t imagine them on purpose remove those events. that are part of CK2 since creation.
Epidemics is another one, I thought they weren't enough of a realistic threat before but now they happen way too often but seem to be as deadly as the common cold. I see characters getting a variety of diseases, one variant after another, but very few actually die!
I'm hoping the next patch adds more variety and reduces their frequency but actually kills more people! immunity for survivors of particular diseases would be nice too. They should be something to worry about, sadly the pessimist in me fears they will be nerfed to oblivion instead.
@drake_hound
So you think it's a bug? if so maybe I will post about it in the official forum. I wasn't sure if Paradox removed them due to complaints or some other reason.
They may even make you the Cupbearer.
i think that to actually see the event, your ruler must actually be the leader of the seige.
That's assuming though that they haven't removed them since I last checked, but when people complained about them being too frequent that was the solution paradox went with, so for them to actually have been removed since would seem a bit odd.
They still happen, but only appear as minor messages.
The change happened many patches/moons ago (aka far before 2.3.6.).
So no pop-ups anymore.
edit:
apparently "Bob the Builder" already mentioned it.
Oops. Well, twice is better.
..and as Mabdarogan mentioned , you probaqbly only get the message, if your character is the leader of the seige or at least part of it. They try to reduce message spam since several patches, apparently for multiplayer. I don't agree with their idea of what "message spam" is at all, but nobody listens to me.... *sniff*
I'm not getting the siege events with leaders either though.
Speaking of leaders and sieges though. How do you "learn" the siege leader trait? I usually invite good leaders with that trait to court, but it would be nice to have my ruler be a siege leader. Is the only chance to get it randomly by becoming a brilliant strategist at the age of 16? I've played the game for a few hundred hours and never got the siege leader trait without using the console.
And is two leader traits the most you can have? I've never gotten more than two traits with any character.
