Editing save game files on mac?

How can I edit my save game files on mac? Everytime I try and open a file with TextEdit I get this message "The file might be corrupted, truncated, or in an unexpected format" and I can't open it.

Do I need a different program? Any suggestions?

Try to force it to use utf-8. The files are in some other format (windows default non-ascii format I presume) but I've had no problems just treating them as utf-8; even danish letters, æ, ø and å work fine when saved as utf-8 (well on linux they do).

How do I do that? I've tried modifying the file extension but I get the same error. :(

if the game is in iron man mode you can not edit the save they are compressed to a rar or other compressed farmats depending on your OS

Iron man mode is disabled and I'm only running Ruler designer and Customisation pack atm

just make sure you uncheck compressed saves and your saves won't be compressed and then you can edit them. i am not sure what programs run on mac. but i am sure you can find one to edit the game.

It's not just zipped but also not a normal text based save game. What's actually going on is difficult to say -- it might be compressed, encrypted or just a simple memory dump.

Your save file is probably compressed.
When you are saving manually, uncheck the little box right to the save naming box.

Regarding edit programs, as Notepad++ is not available for Mac, these listed might be:

No idea if the page is legit or not. I don't have a Mac.
