Part 1: Prologue
Hesitantly, I walked into the large tent that belonged to The King Beyond The Wall. Mance Ryder, a former Black Brother and a current Deserter.
Truth be told, I know not why he summoned me here. I hope he does not suspect me of retaining loyalty to The Night's Watch. I know I should have killed him the first chance I got; I would have died myself, but without him keeping these wildlings together the threat to The Wall would have been finished.

"Jon, It's good you came. You're probably wondering why I called you in?"
I let him continue speaking.
"The Winters are getting colder, and we are beset by The Others. That is why we are marching south: because if we don't, we'll die. Our only choice will be to take shelter behind The Wall, and that means fighting our way over it. I have a special task for you, but I'll need to be sure you're all in. Can I trust you?"
I have been living with these wildlings for so long that I am starting to wonder if they are really in the wrong. They are people trying to survive a disaster.
Meanwhile, The Night's Watch has done little but dissapoint me. I began to have my doubts when I learned that The Watch was allied with Craster even despite his daugher-raping and his son-murdering, and I am beginning to suspect that The Watch sent my uncle Benjan to die. But it was not until I met actual Free Folk, when I met Ygritte, that I began to have my doubts.
Now with The Others baring down on us and no move being made by The Night's Watch to stop them, I feel my hand is forced. I must become a true Deserter.
"Yes, you can trust me."
Mance smiled. "Good. I want you to take command of the village of Skirling Pass."
I guess Now My Watch Has Ended.

Part 2: Preparing for War.
I was sent to Skirling Pass with a handful of men and with instructions to fortify the pass. Needless to say I was afraid, but with Ygritte by my side I felt I could accomplish anything. In fact, I wanted to be with her for the rest of my life. I know I had taken a vow never to marry, but I am a deserter either way so it is not as though I have anything to lose.

I raced her to The Weirwood tree and we said the words. Once that was done we made love beneath the trees branches. We were married now.

The first thing I accopmlished was putting my men to work raising troops and funds. I had to get them working quickly as time was scarce.

When next I heard from Mance, an envoy riding ahead of his host informed me that he was raising taxes imposed upon the clans. No doubt as a means of raising much-needed funds.

This was followed a few days later by Mance's Host itself. I gathered up as many people as I could, and Joined with the thousands of others in Mance's horde. Ygritte of course insisted she accompany me, and as I know argewing with her would be an excersies in futility I had to let her come. Though truth be told, I was glad to have her with me through this.
One night, I asked her if she might wish to have children. "I would be willing to, but only if they are yours."
