Steppe by Steppe
I am holding all the provinces inside the steppe region as the Cumans, but I am not getting the Steppe by Steppe achievement. Can anyone help?

Are you nomad? If yes, then you don't own everything.

Just so we're absolutely sure, you know that for this achievement you need all counties in the Steppe region, not all the provinces with the Steppe terrain?

If you have that, it's probably, as Yaldabaoth said, that you don't own everything, so there will be at least one barony held by someone else.

Yes, Rene, I do. Do you want me to send a pic? I have checked for every barony. Is it because some other clans have their own vassals? I have nomadic government and ironman enabled.

Got some more provinces, still nothing.

The steppe region, as defined in geographical_region.txt file, includes all of the de jure counties in Perm and Yugra as well as all of the counties in the Tarim Basin, not just what people think of when they see steppe. I won't repost the entire list of duchies considered part of the steppe region by the game. You can find it in the above .txt file in your CKII folder. Just look for world_steppe, which includes 3 different regions. Each region then lists the de jure duchies included in that region in the format d_itil, for example. Or you can just search the forums here for steppe by steppe achievement and the several threads about it where I list all of the duchies.

Yes a screenshot (post it here) would be best.

As Lankard said/implied, threads like this pop up frequently and it usually is either a misunderstanding about the requirements (CK2 achievements can have less than stellar descriptions) or the person is missing a barony here or there (checking every province for every barony is tedious and it's extremely easy to miss one).

I found the old post here:

It lists all of the de jure duchies you need to control. You need every de jure county in the duchy and any towns, tribal areas, temples must be owned by you or a vassal or one of your sub-clans.

It appears that you have everything necessary, but what is happening in Jemotwona, there under the popup window, in the duchy of Khotan. It appears that someone is at war in that province. It is one of the required areas.

Other than that, there must be a temple, castle or tribal holding or town somewhere that remains independent. It won't show on the map. You'll have to look province by province and find it.

Check Jemotwona first, though.

You mean Cherchen (prov. 1441)? One of my vassals is having a revolt. But the revolting side is also my vassal. Also when I made this discussion, it wasn't occupied.

Found it! A single barony in the far east!

Problem solved. Thanks, guys. Fangpan barony in Dunhuang province remained independent. I have the achievement now.

Same thing happens when people try to get the SPQR achievement. It took me several days of frustration to finally locate one independent barony in the Pyrenees.

Maybe too much of a Necro, but I found this thread when I was looking for answers. A helpful hint: If you have reformed the Tengri Faith, don't forget to vassalize the High Priest of the Tengri Church like I did. I had conquered Cherson from the Byzantines and was left with a "wut?" expression.

Also be aware of religion orders. If some of your clan vassals have adopted institutional religion (Islam, any Christian or reformed pagan), they tend to let them build their castles in empty provinces. I had to convert to Sunni just so I could burn down 3 Sky Lords castles :/
