Currently, there are a couple viable options:
A) Court-packing, which basically means sending your treacherous -high intrigue, deceitful, greedy...- lowborn courtiers t your target's court, then buying them off and inviting them to the plot.
B) Use the Black Cat mod. It doesn't bring back the assassination button, but instead allows you to hire assassins which will ask for different ammounts of gold depending on the target's rank. The assassins will always have high intrigue, adding to your plot's chance. They disappear after two years, whether your plot succeeds or not. Just note that the AI will also be able to hire them if you use this mod, so it's a double-edged sword, especially if you have rivals with tons of money.

Instead of just doing the sensible thing and transferring the truce timer to the target's heir if the assassin was caught after the murder, they just removed the option and rendered the hook of one of their most enticing trailers inaccurate.
Assasinate for truce wasnt never my goal... To wait for truce-ending is a feature of this game.
Yes.
Search for assassination in the Workshop and you will find.
I've always used the assassination that requires plot power.
It was also removed because it wasnt fun for multiplayer. You could just keep killing someone over and over if you had enough money and there wasnt anything they could do to stop it
Yeah there used to be an option to 'buy' an assassination. basically you spent money for a chance to kill someone
