You modern gamerkids don't think before you speak and you all expect everything to individually cater to you, and it's getting annoying.
By the way, this game was getting steady updates, and I mean real updates not JUST the DLC from late 2012 until 2018. So "left this game in a hurry" is hysterical.
yep, they've stated repeatedly that if it was possible to do so without potential negative consequences for legit players, they'd remove every possible exploitable way of cheating the Iron-Man system.
But settled for making it annoying enough to discourage most people from doing it.
The only limit is your conscientiousness.
Until recently, I was hunting for achievements in the Crusaders and playing without mods that change the checksum. But to be honest, the game in vanilla is ugly, at least for me after 2,000 hours. Therefore, I have a choice - either suffer, but get achievements, or enjoy the game, transfer the save to Europe, then to Victoria and, perhaps, to HOI (although I have never done this). Because there is no point in transferring saves from the vanilla game, since they are terrible. This is just stupid bordergore or the unrealistically large states that are dying in Europe 4 due to the administrative limit. Both options lack realism or interesting alternate history.
You didn't understand what they were saying. They never claimed that disabling achievements when mods are active was a bug. They just said that "[It] still has a few bugs present that can't be fixed without invalidating the checksum". This is a fact. For example, there's a bug with reforming pagan religions with the divine marriage tenet. It's supposed to change the god names to you and your family members. It works, but in vanilla, if you save and reload, it smashes all the god names together into one massive ugly string, and really kills the immersion. There's also a bug where if you have a county that's the Tibeto-Burman culture and Hellenic religion, it's impossible to interact with temples and their icons are blacked out.
These are bugs that Paradox will likely never fix, and any mods that fix them change the checksum and make getting achievements impossible. The OP here was just saying that if you want to still use bugfix mods like these while getting achievements, it's possible.
I understand them, and privileged whiners like them perfectly.
