Achievements with mods
This isn't a question, but rather a statement.

Paradox left this game in a hurry, and it still has a few bugs present that can't be fixed without invalidating the checksum.

But, there is in fact a "patched" .exe file available that allows achievements regardless of checksum, or indeed even without Ironman.

The file is hosted on a Russian gaming forum, and I can't find it anywhere else.

Not sure if linking the site looks bad, but you should be able to find a link to it easily by reading the comments on this Reddit post:
https://www.reddit.com/r/CrusaderKings/comments/qhlij1/comment/hidqe1k/

The file says it is for version 3.3.2.0, but AFAIK it also works for the latest version 3.3.5.1

Thought I'd post this here to help those of you who've also grown tired of the direction CK3 is heading.

CK2 will always have a special place in my heart.

Disabling achievements when running a mod isn't a bug nor is it leaving the game rushed. It's intended, considering any mod could be made that could grant anyone any achievement, or multitudes of them instantly.

You modern gamerkids don't think before you speak and you all expect everything to individually cater to you, and it's getting annoying.

By the way, this game was getting steady updates, and I mean real updates not JUST the DLC from late 2012 until 2018. So "left this game in a hurry" is hysterical.

It should also be noted that there was never a day in the game's active development where lame crap like "achievements" without ironman (aka with any sort of gameplay mod) was a thing and it was intentional. Paradox could quite easily set things up for ezmode achievements for all of their games but choose not to so there is actually some sort of minimal actual achievement involved (assuming you don't cheeve-hack like a total loser).

yep, they've stated repeatedly that if it was possible to do so without potential negative consequences for legit players, they'd remove every possible exploitable way of cheating the Iron-Man system.

But settled for making it annoying enough to discourage most people from doing it.

I mean, without such tricks, you can honestly fulfill the conditions of the achievement and then unlock the achievement using a special utility for steam. By "honestly" we mean that you do not use console commands, cheating mods, unbalanced mods and use monthly saves simulating "ironman".
The only limit is your conscientiousness.
Until recently, I was hunting for achievements in the Crusaders and playing without mods that change the checksum. But to be honest, the game in vanilla is ugly, at least for me after 2,000 hours. Therefore, I have a choice - either suffer, but get achievements, or enjoy the game, transfer the save to Europe, then to Victoria and, perhaps, to HOI (although I have never done this). Because there is no point in transferring saves from the vanilla game, since they are terrible. This is just stupid bordergore or the unrealistically large states that are dying in Europe 4 due to the administrative limit. Both options lack realism or interesting alternate history.

You didn't understand what they were saying. They never claimed that disabling achievements when mods are active was a bug. They just said that "[It] still has a few bugs present that can't be fixed without invalidating the checksum". This is a fact. For example, there's a bug with reforming pagan religions with the divine marriage tenet. It's supposed to change the god names to you and your family members. It works, but in vanilla, if you save and reload, it smashes all the god names together into one massive ugly string, and really kills the immersion. There's also a bug where if you have a county that's the Tibeto-Burman culture and Hellenic religion, it's impossible to interact with temples and their icons are blacked out.

These are bugs that Paradox will likely never fix, and any mods that fix them change the checksum and make getting achievements impossible. The OP here was just saying that if you want to still use bugfix mods like these while getting achievements, it's possible.

I understand them, and privileged whiners like them perfectly.
