Pagan holy orders
Hello, playing as Saxony, reformed the faith and found a Republic. It is the (current year :)) 954 and I have no holy order. I am the head of the religion and own all holy sites. How do I create a holy order? The freakin pope just declared a crusade on my realm and they attack with all their holy orders and most of the christian power in europe, I have no chances. How to create holy orders? Help!

According to the Wiki, since I wasn't sure about the pagan faith ones:

The Old Gods DLC
The year is at least 920
Either Stettin, Wolgast, Rügen or Werle has a free holding
The count holding the chosen county is Germanic or Reformed Germanic
The holder accepts the creation

Yeah I know this, thx anyway. Everything above is true and still I have no holy order. Doesn´t matter anyway I've allready lost. I wish paradox would stop producing dlcs and start working on the AI and fix the myriads of bugs.

While the passive aggressive whining is super impressive and all, this isn't a bug. There are conditions that can prevent the Jomvikings from appearing, such as if additional land has been built in the holdings/they've already been settled.

There were free spots on the holy sites. If they´ve already settled shouldn´t they be available to hire?
Rowley May 27, 2016 @ 8:02am
No. The Jomvikings build their own settlement, rather than take one of yours.

Yes I know, they should do this, but they didn´t. Guess there is no way to "force" them to appear or found them manualy.

They can be forced with the console using "Event TOG.4009," though otherwise the MTTH is 620 months, rather than instantaneous.

Too bad, thx for responding.

wow, and the catholics still instantly get crusades and all holy orders but the templars when you take that last germanic holy site?
Kvasir May 27, 2016 @ 12:56pm
Yes, when you take all germanic holy sites you trigger the crusade event.

brutal. that's the problem with mechanics designed before new mechanics, they dont always get rebalanced.

before tribal mechanics and the reform to feudalism, i imagine defending against this situation was a lot easier. now, with the reform to fuedlism, you've got lost a few major strengths, and have yet to really develop your new strengths much.
Kvasir May 27, 2016 @ 2:36pm
Yes, but you do not need all 5 holy sites, you can reform faith with just 3 and upgrade your tribal holdings before adopting feudalism. Anyway you will lose a lot of army just in numbers, so the AI will attack you because it just looks at how many soldiers you have, not at how good they are. And in the case of germanic with catholic neighbours you will have a hartd time.

Also, the Jomsvikings have to have NOT been turned away by another pagan ruler prior to you taking over the county. Otherwise you're SOL and it's unclear as to whether or not they'll try to return.

To be fair, the Crusades can only trigger after the year 900. So if you get all of your ♥♥♥♥ consolidated, take holy sites and so on before then (Which admittedly isn't as feasible in TOG as it is in Charlemagne) then it's not as much of a problem.

I don't think Catholics "instantly" get their holy orders (Many don't show up until like 1100ish under normal circumstances), but the MTTH is much shorter. Even shorter if one of the prime sites such as Paris, Constantinope or Rome is taken. Very sure that other pagan faiths don't have a long MTTH either.

It doesn't trigger when you take all holy sites; it triggers IF Cologne or Braunschweig has become Catholic, but is ruled by a non-Christian (among other triggers). So, essentially, take the other 3 if they have become Catholic, and if they haven't, do all in your power to prevent that from happening. One last option is to capture it, then make a furious effort to convert it prior to 900 AD, but if you're starting in that time period, both of them are non-Christian at the time anyway.
Even then, with the Braunschweig/Cologne triggers, it won't unlock Knights Templar, unless Christendom is having some pretty major struggles already. Although it will unlock the other 4.
One way to avert it could be (I haven't tested this) allowing a Catholic to hold it, if the county has become Catholic. It might be enough to prevent the trigger. Maybe.

Catholicism just has the distinct fortune of being the only religion with more than 1 holy order; honestly, 5 is really pushing it, if everyone else has to just put up with having only 1.
