So just aesthetic stuff. You don't need it to get a part of the full CK2 "experience," let alone the DLC content proper.
So are any of the stuff in the DLC content pack included in the actual Reaper's Due expansion?
I understand the rationale behind charging for the content--they put in time and effort to create that extra stuff. Though to be frank it's not a whole lot of extra stuff. Though one could argue that that stuff should be free just because it relates to content that was in the base game.
Eh, there's some upsides. Maybe I don't want this DLC, but I really like portrait and unit packs or music, and I don't want to pay $10 just to get the new portraits. Or more likely more than $10 if they bundled them together, but I'm sure most players who want the portraits included are really saying they want them included in other DLC free of charge. But the simple fact is they wouldn't be making new portraits if they couldn't make money off them. If you want free, there's mods, right?
Yes, it would certainly be nice if they made African pagans (or even Muslims) more interesting. Or any non-Germanic pagans, for that matter.
Yes the potential for this game to be much richer with diversity and making each region and culture unique with proper historical context. They really need to do that next time, making the darker skinned peoples with more mechanics and unique features to playing as them
That kind of business always gets me. Oh well...
The game is hugely complex, has tons of awesome content, and has been in development for many years and people keep asking (and paying) for more. The extra money we pay for DLCs pay the salaries of people who continue to design and code these additions. And, of course, Paradox makes a profit, too. They should, after taking a risk on a project and turning it into a fantastic game.
If you don't like the business practice of charging for DLCs, then evaluate the base game alone. It is still a great deal for just $10.
No this is there way to actually save you money...
Music and Art is contracted out and Paradox has an obligation to pay those people X amount of the profit from the music and art... if they added it all together as one DLC the price would go up for the primary part of the DLC that everyone wants...
So I much prefer getting the portions of the DLC that I want at a cheeper price.... I dont care much about the music or the art and I have the choice to not purchase that under the currect way they do things....
So its a good thing not a bad thing!
