What's the difference between the Reaper's Due DLC and Reaper's Due Content DLC?
Can someone explain to me what's the difference, do I buy both to get the full experience and aesthetic value of the game?

The Content Pack just has a few minor additions. Looking at the page itself, it just includes:

• East African Portrait Pack
• Late Byzantine Clothing Pack
• Eastern Female Model Pack
• African Female and Male Model Packs

So just aesthetic stuff. You don't need it to get a part of the full CK2 "experience," let alone the DLC content proper.

So are any of the stuff in the DLC content pack included in the actual Reaper's Due expansion?

Nope.

That's kind of a cheap way of getting more money. They should not seperate the aesthetics away from the game and I think they should put some more unique mechanics and features in the African continent and cultures.

I'm a bit torn regarding it. On one hand, I'd much rather they be separate and priced differently rather than together in one lump sum. On the other, the Content Pack has absolutely nothing to do with the "content" of The Reaper's Due, so I don't see why it's even called that. It's just stuff that was slapped together in a little pack that releases at the same time.

I understand the rationale behind charging for the content--they put in time and effort to create that extra stuff. Though to be frank it's not a whole lot of extra stuff. Though one could argue that that stuff should be free just because it relates to content that was in the base game.

Eh, there's some upsides. Maybe I don't want this DLC, but I really like portrait and unit packs or music, and I don't want to pay $10 just to get the new portraits. Or more likely more than $10 if they bundled them together, but I'm sure most players who want the portraits included are really saying they want them included in other DLC free of charge. But the simple fact is they wouldn't be making new portraits if they couldn't make money off them. If you want free, there's mods, right?

Yes, it would certainly be nice if they made African pagans (or even Muslims) more interesting. Or any non-Germanic pagans, for that matter.

Yes the potential for this game to be much richer with diversity and making each region and culture unique with proper historical context. They really need to do that next time, making the darker skinned peoples with more mechanics and unique features to playing as them

Ye gods, don't even get me started on how bitter I am about Paradox's Germanic hardon. I had my hopes up at first when I saw that they were adding some flavor to defensive pagans like West Africans...until it turned out that it's the same thing across the board for all defensive pagans, while Germanics get even more Viking traits, their own Crusader traits and Shield Maidens.

Hmm, thanks for the thread. Got my question answered and it was the same as the OP. I do think Paradox could have done a better job and explaining and organizing their DLC/Content as well as bundling them together for something a lot less then $200++ (not on sale) price tag. Then again it wouldn't be the Cash Cow it is for Paradox..... ALL the DLC's/Content to purchase for ALL of their games...... Greedy Sons of B**ches :reusgreed:
That kind of business always gets me. Oh well...

The game is hugely complex, has tons of awesome content, and has been in development for many years and people keep asking (and paying) for more. The extra money we pay for DLCs pay the salaries of people who continue to design and code these additions. And, of course, Paradox makes a profit, too. They should, after taking a risk on a project and turning it into a fantastic game.

If you don't like the business practice of charging for DLCs, then evaluate the base game alone. It is still a great deal for just $10.

No this is there way to actually save you money...

Music and Art is contracted out and Paradox has an obligation to pay those people X amount of the profit from the music and art... if they added it all together as one DLC the price would go up for the primary part of the DLC that everyone wants...

So I much prefer getting the portions of the DLC that I want at a cheeper price.... I dont care much about the music or the art and I have the choice to not purchase that under the currect way they do things....

So its a good thing not a bad thing!

it's gotten a little bit better. at least pagans can take patron dieties now. i agree though, germanics have twice as much things as all other pagans plus indians combined.
