I've personally often found threat to be trivial in many cases however, because oftentimes you can bypass it by just ending a war quickly using overwhelming numbers to assault down a target--and because the A.I often prioritizes its own wars. You can even keep specific people from joining pacts by forming a Non-aggression pact of your own through marrying off your family members. That said, once you get big enough you can pretty much just take on the world without repercussions anyway, though I get that not everyone wants to deal with the hassle.
That's literally it.
It's not the hassle, but the nonsense, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, laziness (by Paradox) that this feature/thing/crap represents.
Well for me.
@brandygbarnes
You might have to add a minus in front of the number, other wise the infamy level could just rise, but i ain't sure about that anymore.
But the meta nature of it is what gets me. The fact that the A.I will instantly join fellow pactmembers' defensive wars, even if their nation is halfway across the world is one thing--this isn't real world communication, and messages aren't delivered that smoothly besides. I can honestly deal with Catholics and Muslims teaming up at a certain threshold if you're really that scary/feared, although it just being treated like a simple mechanic "Go past this threat, and suddenly pacts merge" isn't the way to go about it.
I'm more or less fine with it, I just believe that if Paradox was going to implement something like this, they shouldn't have half-assed it, like you said. It should be a very involved and engaging mechanic rather than just something that automatically springs up to oppose you--this is a game about intrigue, after all.
I can't sometimes, as as soon as you are king it becomes silly.
Arond a handful of close by realms no matter which culture and religion their leaders are joining up, sure, but not basically the whole world if you reach several kingdoms/empire+x size.
That's about ma conclusion as well.
I doubt though they will invest much if at all into building on the basic concept, especially as it will become optional with the next patch (outside Steam Achievements).
Well, well..Paradox as we know it...nothing new on the swedish front. ;)
