Why doesn't my trade zone expand ?
I have the following situation :
I have trade post in Salerne, Amalfi, Capoue. This gives me control of the Golf of Naple, and thus it is one trade Zone. Then I made a trade post in Roma, which is adjacent to Capoue and hence is in the same trade zone.
Then I made a trade post in Orvietto (next to Roma), but it doesn't get into the same trade zone !

It should be part of my trade zone for to reason : it is adjacent to Roma AND I have two trade post in Roma Coast, which is the most there is (Gena family has one trade post in this zone), so I should control Roma coast.

Why doesn't Orvietto join my trade zone ? Why don't I control Roma Coast ?

Does your family own the trade post in Roma? I can't tell.
If so it sounds like a bug, maybe just a graphical one that resolves itself.

Trade zone is based on sea tiles, if the ports open up into the same water tile they are in the same zone, but if a port opens up into one water tile and a neighboring county has a port opening up into a different water tile then they are in different trade zones. Here, Roma has a port in Cote de Rome and Capoue has a port in golfe de naples.

Not entirely true, however it needs either a direct physical connection throughout or uncontested sea zones.

As you can see, all 17 of my trade posts are in the same trade zone because it is a single chain...

If he adds Naples then Orvieto will be included in his trade zone but having to cross the water to get to Capue limits how far he can subsequently join "overland".

I'm willing to bet that this is because the Cote De Rome is contested with Genoa. I believe you need to control a simple majority (>50%) of the trade posts in a sea zone to control the sea zone itself?

I suppose I wasn't entirely accurate, since you are right that everything in your color is in the same trade zone, what I meant was focused more on controlling them, having trade posts in one sea tile making it part of your trade zone does not affect any other sea tiles, if you have enough trade posts in a sea tile compared to any competition, then it is added to your trade zone. Here, the OP though that the county opening out into a different sea tile should be part of his trade zone since it is neighboring another county with a trade post, but whether an area is part of your trade zone is entirely dependent on how many trade posts you have in counties opening out into a specific sea tile, and trade posts in counties that do not open into that sea tile have no effect on adding it to your trade zone.

In conclusion : It was a bug. I restarted the game and then I controlled Roma Coast (Genova only has one post in this zone and I have two, so I have control it)
bri >> How did you obtain this many trade posts ?

Trade technology, adult male family members in court, improvements in your merchant palace, and certain special buildings like level 2 of the roads from the builder bloodline.

That was from before bloodlines actually. It also was pretty late in my 7 centuries game so I had plenty of time to nurture the Republic into being a powerhouse so all the families had plenty of trade posts (meaning no events taking mine "for the good of the Republic" and so on).
