Jihad called but not happening, help.
I'm playing as the byzantine emperor and in my efforts to mend the great schism (and restore Rome) ive set my sights on the seats of the pentarchy, just finished a big holy war for Jerusalem and im so close all I need is Alexandria now... BUUUT the Abassid caliph I who i just defeated for Jerusalem has declared a Jihad for the reconquest of the city, now in the hands of my vassal, however no war has started .

1. The sunni caliph is currently putting down a revolt, is that the reason why he hasnt declared war yet? (even tho I did recieve an event message).
2. the city is held by a direct vassal of mine, im relatively new so dumb question but, if he does get attacked will I be able to join in his defense?
3.any tips for preparation or what to expect? I've seen muslim fight holy wars but this is the first time i see them call for an actual Jihad, and the Seljuk turks just popped up a couple years back with a 50k doomstack.
All help is appreciated.

The kingdom title does not need to exist for someone to declare a jihad for it, they will simply take all the land owned by the person they declared war on within the boundaries of the de jure kingdom. So if all you own is the land in the duchy of Jerusalem, the jihad probably wasn't declared on you but someone else who owns land in the de jure kingdom. "Holy war" is a CB that takes a duchy and is different from a jihad or crusade.

And I meant only one of your vassals can declare war on one of your vassals. A vassal of another ruler still has to declare war on you

Jihad does not fight for a city, it fights for an entire kingdom, but if a kingdom is partly owned by two different people they can only declare Jihad (or crusade) on one of them. Is there someone else who owns part of the kingdom of Jerusalem that the caliph could have declared war on?

Outside realms have to declare war on you, not your vassal. Only person who can declare war on your vassal but not you is another vassal.

When a crusade or Jihad is called, the head of the religion is automatically in the war, but anyone of the religion can join it. Each jihad is different, if all the sunni rulers are preoccupied with wars they probably won't join in but theoretically you could have to face down every sunni ruler in the world

Well thats the thing, my holy war only landed me the duchy of Jerusalem, not the kingdom, even then I dont actually hold said duchy, its held by an abbassid emir, I can usurp it but first i gotta wait for his liege to finish putting down that rebellion I mentioned, so currently, no kingdom of jerusalem, no christian owned duchy of jerusalem, just the De Jure counties of said duchy.

What if an abassid vassal declares war on my vassal, could I join there?
