Best way to use "Sow Dissent?"
Looking for tips on how to best utilize the "sow dissent" chancellor action. Previously I've tried to use it to break up big blobs by making vassals dislike their liege enough to break away. Am I doing this correctly?

Sow dissent with a high personal diplomacy skill on your court can give negative effects to another county province then your own and best used as so.

For example, I put him down on the Uyyamads capital because i want to expand there as the Kingdom of Italy.

Over time you can give effects like -25% levies, -20% plot power and so on. So to the people above me saying its useless don't know how powerful this can be on your enemies if your in a rough spot early game.

Yes that is the correct way to use it. I don’t find it very effective when I use it. 9 times out of 10, my chancellor gets caught and imprisoned.

just use the antagonize option if you want to annoy another ruler...the blackguard events that increase revolt risk can really mess ai realms up if you crank revolt strength to powerful/very powerful
sow dissent is rather ineffective

Antagonize makes characters angry at you, Sow Dissent makes vassals angry at their liege. Completely different uses.

That said, Sow Dissent is still marginally useful at best. It's slightly more useful as a vassal trying to get a faction or plot going against your liege, but even then I think I'd rather try and make the other vassal like me more than our liege less.

well antagonize gives tons of events disrupting the kingdom

either general opinion malus -10/20 for the antagonize victim (which i deem stronger than an opinion malus with a single vassal)
or revolt risk in demesne counties (2.5%)
cant find a list of all possible events with antagonize though
but since antagonize and sow dissent arent exclusive use both if you want
if you think sow dissent is useful at all go ahead

Good points! I try to do a mix of both, tbh. Keeps things interesting :p

i think i used that skill once to get some fellow vassals to back my plot to fabricate a claim for the kingdom.

didn't really work, so i switched chancellor from sow dissent to fabricate claim, got lucky and got a claim on the kingdom and used that instead of the plot to usurp the throne of the liege.

Sow dissent is sadly useless compare to the 3 others skill from chancellor

Indeed I only ever use it if I have a briliant chancelor (above 20) or a bad one I want to get rid of (especially if the capital I send them to is disease riddled).

And about antagonise: bear in mind it can lead to a duel. So make sure you're better at personal combat (or intrigue) or that you have a good heir.

i find killing the top liege in a nation works much better at sowing dissent

Way of Life Intrigue focus allows you to spread "vicious rumors" modifier. Just keep in mind there are other creative ways to make vassals unhappy like petitioning your liege to give you that councilor job another has. All of them are (mostly) indirect rolls of the dice like leaving the guy with a female heir, carousing him into hedonistic sins that antagonize the vassals, challenging him to an unequal duel (craven) etc. Of course many of these require a positive opinion first.

Ignoring it completely is the best way to use Sow Dissent.

Improve Relation tends to get better results than sow dissent does.

Hell Build Spynetwork works better too, since it directly gives their liege negative modifiers instead trying to convince vassals to lower their opinion of their liege (which 9/10 they'll say no to unless they already really hate him).

If you're the Kingdom of Italy, you should have more than enough men to just blitz down the relevant holdings. You could have been using the time to fabricate more claims or bolster your own troop count by blanket improving relations giving you more men to call up.
