The ruler who approves the betrothal for the princess likely will not accept the offer, so the princess will not show up on the list of candidates. Try to do it directly. Left click on the princess' portrait and choose "arrange betrothal". You can then find out of they will agree to it.

Reasons for refusing a betrothal/marriage could include that you or your son do not have a high enough status (titles, prestige), your son is ill or unlikely to produce children, the princess is an heir and wants a matrilineal marriage, or the ever popular "political concerns". This last means that the target realm of the betrothal likely has claims or designs on your own territories and they do not want to enter into the NAP that would result from the marriage.

Could it be the princess is already betrothed to someone else?

maybe hes your wifes dynasty and she wont allow it. i had this happen too when my wife and i both had seperate holdings and she wouldnt let me betroth our son as he was heir to both our lands.

Then England vasselized her because i refused to help :) if she had just let her son marry the pox ridden princess of England we would have been fine

Wait... your SON is not on the list? That is something different. That means he is likely in someone else's court. Is his mother someone who holds her own title (Countess, Duchess)? Then the son could be in her court and you can't arrange his marriage. You would have to get him to your court. Unless he is of age I don't know of any way to do that unless the mother loses her title and comes to your court with him. If he is of age you can try to invite him, but he may refuse.

Nope, he is just her son.

He is of age, but his mother holds no land. He is Earl, if that makes a difference.

You can't marry him or betroth him if he have a title of his own.

I'm of the "never land your heir" philosophy so I can't test this but I thought they recently added a tick option to retain control over who close relatives marry.

I could easily be wrong about whether it applies here but thought it might be worth mentionning just in case ...

You can only stop them from marrying or betrothing themselves for a couple (5?) years after they become landed. You still need to have a potential marriage partner in your court in order to set up a marriage/betrothal for them.

No, if you restrict their marriage they get a gold ring button and you can marry them to anyone as if you are marrying yourself or they are in your court. But it lasts for only 10 years. If he was landed since childhood then the time limit probably already passed. But the fatc he's still unmarried gives me hope.

But if the 10 years since landing have passed, forget princesses for now. Try inviting a suitable girl (good traits & family) in your court, suggest the marriage to him and he might accept. Otherwise he'll marry the first imbecile lowborn when he gets desperate.
