Chess Game With Death
Does anyone else get this event all the time or is there some deep curse upon my family that causes my frequent encounters with it? I'm a diehard CK2 fan but I just lost the third promising member of my dynasty. I chose different options each step of the way but got the exact same text each time (I've never seen a single positive move take place). Am I just unlucky or are other people experiencing this?

I get it at least once a play through, and yeah it's annoying, if I coulod turn just this event off I would.

Cant you avoid this event all together if you don't listen to the homeless person or whatver? I think you need to invite them inside first or something.

The cause is usually you "inviting" a pilgrim, or a wandering monk. Both of those usually turn out to be the trigger for this event, though sometimes the trigger can fire in seclusion with the "your son brought back a peasant".

You can also try disabling the supernatural events, though I'm not sure if it classifies.

I like the supernatural events for the most part, it was just this one firing too many times in a row and having the result each time. I hadn't invited them in, but I hadn't turned them away, either. I'd pointed them in the direction of the local tavern.

I'll try telling them to GTFO next time and report back on how that goes.

If I remember correctly from what I've read (because the event triggered for me only once) that option makes Death mad at you.
