Disabling pregnancy events ?
So I learned recently that the pregnancy event where your wife (or yourself, if female ruler) has cravings for weird foods gives a whopping 70% chance of the child getting a negative congenital trait (trout's eye = ugly, hare's head = harelip, quail's foot = clubfooted), which I assume is the result of an oversight from Paradox, a bad joke, or just a bug.

This has the unfortunate consequence of making those (rather rare in real life) traits proliferate much more than they should, so I would like to deactivate those events until there is a fix to this, if one is ever made. What game rule do I have to disable ? Pregnancy flavor ? Absurd events ? Something else ?

I quite like some of the other pregnancy events, but this particular one is so frequent and has so much impact that it is gamebreaking for me. It's slowly but inexorably turning my games into freak shows. The chance of being born with a harelip is around 1/1000 (in real-world european populations), not 1/10, and I think the game should at least somewhat reflect that.

pregnancy flavor events option in the rules menu should make it so that option no longer appears

I know this event, I don't get it often however. When I do usually I have the Diplomatic Option which has a small chance of just having her gain gluttony but also gives her a +0.5 health buff " Well Fed" As far as I can tell there is no down side for the child from choosing this option. Having a fat wife isn't all that bad either.
If its a major concern you can always use Tier 2 Religious Society to give her Spiritual Guidence or maybe get the event where you suggest she lose some weight, followed by your spy master informing you that your wife is planning to murder you for calling her fat.

The problem isn't my own wife, it is that all AI rulers in the game will also get the event and will very often pick one of the cheaper options, so negatraits will still proliferate all around the world. Just to give an example of how out of hands this can get, at one point in my current game the Seljuk Sultan, the Byzantine Emperor, the HREmperor and the King of France were *all* harelips, with some of them also having another negatrait on the side.

On the long term, this could actually cause a good deal of political instability due to the impact of negatraits on relationships.

Harelip has a +5 Same Trait though, so it might be the tipping point that prevents war between the Empires there!

Haha, at this rate we might indeed soon get to the point where *not* having a harelip is considered weird !

Harelip (Moral Authority : 100)

I love how we're talking about ugly rulers causing political instability

I actually noticed this but didn't realize what was causing it. After reading this I'm like DUH!

I agree it's too prolific, too many people with clubfoots and harelips after I starting playing again recently. Now that I read this alot of fatties in game too. This event is definately increasing rates of all of these to levels that don't make sense.

As with any bad trait there's always ways to work around it and you can have insanely great rulers with a few bad traits.

Even so, that really isn't a great solution. Uncommon traits should be uncommon.

All that said there's still too many "Devil worshippers" in game and they cause me more problems than all these ugmos.
