Miaphysite is very similar to orthodox. uses autocephaly (like orthodox); they have a religious head but similar to the orthodox patriarch he is only responsible for his direct area (usually Alexandria); holy sites in africa and middle east (Alexandria, Aksum, Antioch, Jerusalem, Dwin [Armenia]); one heresy that is basically a copy of the mainstream version.

Nestorian has a religious head (no autocephaly) and can intermarry with some other religions freely (taoist, bön, buddhist, mazdans [all zoroastrians]); holy sites spread across Asia (Edessa, Baghdad, Merv, Jerusalem, Mahoyadapuram [India]); one heresy (messalian) that allows female priests and absolute cognatic succession (similar to cathar) and marriages to close relatives (similar to zoroastrians)

both have 1 holy order each (with sons of abraham; troop composition is identical between the 2)

both have 1 monastic society (with monks and mystics)

So far i've only really played as Catholics and Pagans (from the ainchiant religions mod) and a little bit of greek orthodox.

So if my quick bit of research is correct playing as a Nestorian would gvie me more religios control if I vassalise my religious head than if i played as Miaphysite?

I don’t believe that they have any specific features but doing a Nestorian run would be fun for role play.
Should bear in mind that playing nestorian basically limits you to a one county island start, unless you're gonna use ruler designer. Not that the Miaphysite start dates are much better but Nestorian is incredibly slow.

I was planing on starting as Georgia in the 867 start date and inviting some Nestorians in to the country help me convert and their religious head is a vassle of the Abbassids, (or my wife is Miaphysite if i go that route).

What would be the quickest and easist way to convert to Nestorian if I don't want to ruler designe?

with horselords, there are also some nomad hordes that have nestorian characters.

you can always use a steppe horde as a tool to carve out a nestorian realm (or miaphysite - or any other religion) pretty much anywhere on the map (and destroy whatever power would normally rule that area in the process) if you don't mind some rather cheesy religion switching through concubines/wives and some mass slaughter to spread the word of [your chosen religions prophet]

You can usually, early on find a Nestorian wife in the muslim realms that their lieges aren't to fond on keeping. Then you can convert to her religion. Since your closest holy site is in Baghdad, you'll probably not control that any time soon. The best way to convert your realm would be to join the Monastic holy order if you have M&M. Work your way to the top rank, then you can spend 1000 devotion to convert a county.
